How can I say this...?
I understand and respect your views, however, I'm not Christian, so...;)
Pardon me, and this may blow your mind, but the Bible said "Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness" (Genesis 1:26). In fact, God says "us" more than once in Genesis (I may be a Witch, but I have read the Bible just like any Christian). This not only calls into question what God looked like, but also the existence of other gods and what they looked like.
Also, his last name is "Hong".:p
Don't. Just...don't. I am not questioning the validity of your religion (again, I am the last person who should), but you do not want to go there.:closedeye
hmmm well this jesus character supposedly lived in the middle east right? so im guessing he looked like a middle easterner... you know, NOT WHITE!...
also i dont believe this fellow died for anyones sins more like he died because of some angry jews sins or maybe the Bible GOD killed him ... it was/is (idk if this god still exists or is around) a jealous god after all and full of wrathfullnesses maybe the bible god was all like hey this guys saying hes my son and people are worshiping him almost like a goD! EFFF THAT! death to ya! sucker! huh...
Jesus could walk on water, so that must mean that he weight about 5 oz. So who knows he might be on Americas Next Top Model.
hmmm it is hard to say I have never really thought about it before. I always did picture him with long hair though.
Actually you'll find Bethlehem is in Africa. Its in South Africa. Just not the same one Jesus was born in lol.
Also I'm pretty certain their are pictures and films that kinda prove Matthew McConaughey does indeed have dirty blonde hair and unless he has contacts he too has blue eyes.....so what?
Jesus was white, because there's a picture in my church with Jesus in it and he's white. He also spoke english, because he clearly speaks fleuent english in the Bible, he's also American...
Rather tall?
Given that people in Victorain times were noticably shorter than we are today I think it's pretty safe to assume that in the year 20AD someone who was 5'5" would be considered rather tall.
It's totally unknown whether he was taller than his compatriots and it doesn't matter in the slightest what some guy looked like, but it's safe to say he was tiny in comparison to us.
Also, lol at BurntHouse's epic level of irony
MISSREAD!!!!. but he or she was rather idiotisch. i guess.. to much "holy here" and "holy there"
anywho. i can't really find out how people figured out his look.. but my guess is. he or she was like, lets say.... seriously.. i got no clue... but i'd guess anyway..

not literally, it's a miracle... his followers tought he was a ghost lol since he was always seen dressed in white
that would be the picture of "jesus" in another religion. i strongly believe that jesus wasn't white at all, he should be almost black, since it was really hot in those days...
well. like i said. i had no idea :D?.. so... i was just referring to it could be a girl / women?.. instead of a boy?..
Considering the "color" of such a historical figure is a provocative, and pointless debate. For the sake of argument, consider the source of the written word, ie the Bible. Consider how many times it's been rewritten, editted, and parts omitted. This entire thread shows human vanity and our own preoccupation with labels, colors, and surface appearances only.
Man was created in God's image, but does that mean two arms, two legs, or perhaps it means that there is body, soul, and mind? There are countless ways to take this.
The jewish tribes were the chosen children of God, as in he selected them, and took them over all others. Note, according to wikipedia, there was 13-14 milion jews in the world as of 2007, so it's as close of an effort as I am willing to make here.
Consider the world population with this, and you should feel incredibly silly.
Faith people, it's all about faith, and just by following such a discussion, you should be able to tell who's a believer or not, and who maintains a faith or not.
Consider this, there ARE discussions that should be stomped out from the beginning, this is one such topic.
What would broccoli ice cream taste like?
What if everyone in the WORLD knew how to drive?
Keep dreaming, but sometimes, keep it to yourself.
I agree it is irrelevant for religious Christians, as most of their dogma either written or selected long after Jesus was dead.
The details of Jesus' life is however relevant for those who are interested in what Jesus himself had to say, as a philosopher and a thinker instead of as a religious icon, for people do not have blind faith in him, but wish to examine his teachings as they would any other philosophy.
What he looks like in films is not necessarily what he looks like in real life. Do a quick Google search and you will find that he has neither blond hair nor blue eyes. I pointed this out because the comparison that was used in the OP wasn't exactly right.
Yeah, like how in Genesis 1:26 God said "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness" and uses the word "us" no less than three times in Genesis alone or the many times that the word "gods" are used in reference to the (apparently known) existence of other gods (Exodus does this over and over).:closedeye
How is the depiction you find on google depiction any more reliable than the movie depictions?
Though the old testament wasn't written in English, and there's bound to be a number of grammatical peculiarities stemming form the translation (not because it is bad, but because when translating between languages that are very dissimilar, there is not always a 1:1 translation for some words and pronouns).
Are you serious? First, I have seen the guy, both on television (by television, I mean talk shows) and in real life, so I know what is looks like; its called make-up you guys, for those who do not know (are you implying that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference or that someone wouldn't be able to find an accurate picture of a celebrity on the Internet?). If someone else hasn't seen him, well, they shouldn't make comparisons to them as if they have, which was really my point.
I never gave an exact description of him; I only said that he is neither blond (not even dirty blond, as that means that there are light and dark shades of blond mixed together) nor blue-eyed, since the OP was implying that he was.
Second, WHY are we still talking about it?:rolleyes:
Considering Jesus has been documented it's safe to say he was a boy. Yes Jesus was a real person, do I believe he was some messiah, that's my opinion and has no baring on this discussion.
everyone is wrong! this is jesus
