Re: Paranormal activity at your place
If it is indeed something paranormal, you need to decide if it is something you are comfortable with having around. If it's not something you want around, then you can try to have someone come in and perform a sage cleansing or a House Blessing. Local clergy can do the House Blessing, and some are even familiar with sage cleansings. But first try to rule out all of the normal, non hocus pocus stuff first. Like make sure the locks have been changed, check for any loose floor boards, doors, shutters, etc, and any little critters that may be lurking about. Also, houses settle, and sometimes they can make some creepy noises while doing it.

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
Completely true, i've have to say i never had any experiences like that in my life. So i can't even imagine what your going through.
But i certainly wouldn't be in your shoes? ^_^

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
That's a thing called paranoia or whatever. I really don't believe in ghost at all. There's nothing paranormal hearing the house creak or make noises on its own.

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
I firmly believe in ghosts and paranormal activity. I have had some pretty surreal experiences throughout my lifetime. Imo, some people are more sensitive to it than others and that's why a lot of people don't believe in ghosts/the paranormal.
When I lived in this one apartment, which was a duplex, we had access to the upstairs while no had one occupied it yet and we weren't supposed to but we'd go up there sometimes. I was gathering up the stuff in my arms to go back downstairs cuz my friends just took off without me and that's when I heard a very loud thump followed by a crash. I hauled @$$ down the stairs, man, I was so scared. I didn't know what happened but I knew it was the ghost. We heard it making noises before and it never really bothered me until then. Sometimes the radio randomly turned itself on at night and the ceiling creaked like someone was walking around up there. Sometimes it sounded like the TV was on up there but no one lived there so that's why I concluded there was a ghost. That's what really made me believe in them.
The other profound experience that I had was seeing the ghost of my uncle who committed suicide when I was little. I was by myself in the basement and I saw him, a transparent figure, slowly walking around the pool table and I started crying and took the other route back upstairs. The doorway was right in front of the pool table but I didn't want to look back to see if it was still there. I also believe that children are way more sensitive to ghosts/the paranormal as well.

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
sounds like you be trip pin brah. Offer the "ghost" some fine liquor and you'll be good. sorry, but i've never been one to believe in ghosts n' stuff. But if i was a ghost, and the guy I was haunting gave me liquor, i'd be quite happyful :)

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
Billions of people have lived in billions of areas and billions of homes multiplied by the number of people they lived with. Recording technology in the 21st century is nothing short of astounding. All of this, and there is no firm evidence for the existence of ghosts or the supernatural.
Pretty cynical when it comes to stuff like this, maybe being an atheist is a contributing factor, I dunno, I just don't think it's plausible.

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
I'm sure if you place a few science books around the house, the ghost, bored with doing the same old ghastly things day in and day out, will eventually sit down and read them, realize that there are no such thing as ghosts, and have the common sense to get the heck out of our logic-driven reality.

The world population has exploded recently though. In the 1800s, we were only 1 billion. Around 1 BC, we were only a couple hundred million. 10,000 BC we were only 1 million. 70,000 BC we were only 15,000. So the earth wouldn't be that cramped. Except in places where people have lived for a very long time. I imagine old cities like Rome and London would have one serious ghost infestation if there was any stock to the whole supernatural stuff.

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
I don't believe in ghosts, myself. Most houses are made of wood, so of course they're going to creak and make noises, I wouldn't worry too much :)

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
I kinda believe in ghosts/supernatural things.
never had any experiences, but people around me have lol
well, everyone can believe what they want to and not want to I guess
its just another interesting thing to read about/look about and such ,or so how I see it lol

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
I believe in paranormal activities, as in ghosts (but not aliens, no, thank you). I've had some experience myself when I just moved in my house years ago. My family and I had some shares of paranormal things that happened in the middle of the nights, like hearing someone knocking the door to our rooms, and hearing foot steps outside our rooms, and hearing baby cries, and seeing someone imitating as my mom (when my mom was in fact, asleep in her room at that time), and hearing chains being dragged, and seeing oily foot steps on the cement floor and they disappeared after we touched the foot steps.
Just some pretty weird stuff when we just moved in. Now after years of living in the house, it doesn't happen anymore. Maybe the ghosts are getting 'friendly'? :p

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
I had an experance around 10 years ago with my antie and my sisters first daughter. She was sleeping in the house and was the onley kid there. We heard crying and i checked on the kid in sisters room but she was sleping. I walked around the house looking for the sorce and it was coming from a air vent under the house. And 13-15 years ago i was laying in the living room of one of the old apartments i was living in with my mom i say a girl in a dress apear in front of me and disaper. Another story was one of my best friends had his dog killed by someone and once while by the doghouse we saw red eyes. I dint kniw if that was his dog or not but it scaird the hell out of me. And back at owe previous apartment we lived downstairs and we had no upstairs nabers. We would hear footsteps upstairs when

I'm sure there is a perfectly logical and non-paranormal explanation!

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
I believe there maybe spirits and ghosts, etc. I believe things do exist beyond the current logic and understanding that we currently have of the universe. It's a point and fact that we still know infinitely nothing about our universe and its working, especially beyond the 3rd dimension. And to be honest, believing that there is indeed four or more spacial dimensions is on the same level as believing in ghosts as both are completely metaphysical and pure speculation until proven otherwise. There was once a lot of science that was called "illogical" back in the days of Italy of 1200s when people believed the sun orbited the Earth.
All things we believe are illogical may just be undiscovered science and for which does not have to follow the given rules our current science has set. With science, nothing is truly ever true, and we need to keep an open mind of that if we wish to advance. Our understanding of the flow of time, of physics, biochemical, etc, may all very well just be illusion created from our limited observations in our human form. It's like stating "The sky is blue" as a law/constant in Physics when really the sky being blue is not a constant (thus not a fact/law/constant) and is only ever blue bcuz a number of conditions are met that just happened to make the sky blue during the time we observe it; Does the sky have to be blue simply bcuz our limited observation of it is as such? Nope, and neither do any of the laws of physics ever have to be followed as they are not "rules," they are just coincidentally follow a pattern that we observe to be logical even tho everything may be simply a much more complex system for which doesn't give a damn about our laws of physics. The whole world may be completelly illogical and simply bcuz we exist in this illogical world, things feel like they make sense bcuz of our limited observations and understanding of everything really is.
Short story short: "Nothing is True, and Everything is Permitted!"
Sorry the long post.

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
*ahem* I shall now indulge my beliefs, so it's gonna be a long(ish) post.
I personally don't believe in ghosts at all. In fact, I think most people actually (this sounds crazy, I know) create them themselves. It all starts out with an innocent (well, super loud) creak or bang, doesn't it? Then you become more and more paranoid and then soon, you have a haunting. That, or you've heard stories from other people, describing the same things, making you a believer. And when you start hearing creaks and bangs when nothing's there, you think of what they've said and then you start thinking of a ghost, and then you're screwed.
Either way, it never starts out full blast, does it? It always escalates. First with a bang, then footsteps, then things start showing up in weird places, you do some research and find someone died in (or near) where your live, then the really freaky Amityville horror stuff starts happening, because you now firmly believe it's something paranormal.
I've heard plently of weird bangs, but I've never given it much thought/panicked and nothing freaky has ever happened.
My mom believes in ghosts, but that's because she had some weird experience where she talked to my grandmother (who had died a few years earlier) like she was still alive. She said that it was just like she was still alive. So naturally, that converted my mom over.
I just don't think it's a coincidence that it always starts out with a bump, crash, or footsteps (or a house settling). You know what they say, humans only use a small percentage of their brains. Anything's possible.
SO, moral of this story is, don't panic or freak out. It's just the house settling. The only reason your niece saw something is because she was already freaked out and thought it was a ghost.

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
If you don't understand a situation, just assume it's ghosts.

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
I don't think I am paranoid if I believe in ghosts. Most of you say you don't believe and that's fine but just because logic is on your side doesn't mean that you're right. Not everything has to have an explanation behind it. I'd like to think there's still some mystery to this world and if ghosts aren't real, well, at least I wasn't narrow-minded towards the possibility. Perhaps you have not yet had a profound supernatural experience that might change your opinion, or maybe you're just too scared to admit they could be real because you don't want to believe it yourself. Like I said before, some people might be more sensitive to the paranormal than others, which could also play a factor in those who don't believe.

Yeah. I mean, it's more logical to say that ghosts don't exist but it's not a proven fact that they don't. It's not a matter of science, it's a matter of what you believe to be true.

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
I believe in Karma, and karma makes you think things you don't normally think of.

Okay, fine, I'll entertain you; what purpose does believing in ghosts serve? Let's say I DO believe in ghosts, then I'm naturally inclined to ask some questions: Do ghosts have mass? How do they interact with physical objects as well as pass through them? Through what mechanisms do they emit their ghost light? Why isn't there any traces of their interaction with reality? etc. etc.
I'm sure everyone's entertained the idea before, but there are two conflicting sets of beliefs here: 1) Ghosts 2) Physics
It's just not very pragmatic to believe in ghosts.

Re: Paranormal activity at your place
Gonna tie this in with anime cuz I'm super-rad.
Paranoia Agent. You can give a dictionary definition of the word 'paranoia,' but that show makes you realize how far-reaching the definition and effects really are. Fabulous show.
