I have a strange linguistics question. Do you know if there is a term for the process changing a clause's verb to "to be" by appropriately adjusting the predicate?
For example, changing "Sam eats turkey." to "Sam is one who eats turkey."
Since it can be useful for analyzing logical syllogisms, I was wondering if it had a term. Maybe not.

Today my bf Roger and I are going to hangout today and he is staying all night. On Thanksgiving I am going to be with him and his family for Thanksgiving! Then him and I are just going to hangout all weekend!

I have a vocab ranging from 2.8k~3.8k words. What would you suggest using as a main listening tool? I hope I can get my listening up to par with my reading skill.

Actually, I don't have any problem with Kanji, writing, or even learning vocabulary so much.
So far most of my practice has been written so I'll look up works or ask the person for the meaning. My brain has time to parse sentences (it's good with patterns) when I don't reflexively understand, so rarely do I not end up understanding the sentence.

What I'm wondering about is how to properly listen. Let's say I understand 20% of what I hear on reflex, 40% of it I'd understand if I could rehear it a few times, and the rest I couldn't really claim to understand due to vocab/idiom or some other listening problem. The rest must be guessed from visual context.
What do I do? Should I replay a dialog to get a better understanding, should I replay the whole episode to get a better understanding, or should I just go onto the next episode? It's some what of a strange question, but it has been bugging me.
