You're welcome! ^ ^ Btw, sorry about the changes in one of my messages. I thought it might help to give a real example of an extraction when applied to full image, so I gave you a linked picture. If you scroll down your Visitor Messages page a bit you can't miss it! Meanwhile I have to take a walk down to the road to a shop before it's closed, so I'll have to leave this convo for now (sadly), but hope to talk to you later! ^ ^
(Message continued...) Here's the link to my full extraction page: http://www.animeforum.com/showthread...=1#post2522673 Idk why AF shortens a link in a message once it's reached a certain length of characters, but it should work nonetheless if you click it - then the full link should show up on the address bar in your browser. ^ ^
Summer and studying, sounds a little ironic, yeah... XD Good luck with that, I guess. And yeah, I occasionally use extractions as content for my other works. I may also combine several extractions with a background to create images such as wallpapers, signatures (or tags if you prefer), or just about anything related to computer graphics. They're also useful in documents where certain text effects are used, and you get better results when text is set to wrap around extractions than other image types since the former have no backgrounds. There's no set rule on how extractions should be used though. Here's one visual example of how an extraction can be used; this is one of my extractions combined with a background and some lighting effects, if that helps!
Hmm, I guess so. ^ ^ I've been using an improved technique for extracting anime characters from varied coloured backgrounds - these tend to be the most tricky next to full-colour photographs. There's a few extractions I've done also: one is an extraction of a strawberry, and the other is of Ninetales, which is different to my other Pokemon extractions in that the source image is a vector I created, oh yeah, and there's also an extraction of a set of Chibi-style Lucky Star characters - but I haven't yet uploaded these to AF, mainly because I really need to sort my Extraction thread out first - if you've seen it already, you may have noticed that the "small print" section is kinda long, and scary to read I guess. >.< How about you? How have you been? =3
aww Im so glad :3 yer very welcome ~ <3
(Message continued...) Unfortunately, when it comes to official content, extractions (especially of official characters) are few and far between, and then most are too small for any practical use. Hence most extractions are done privately by home users (anime fans for example), who may then upload them for other people to use. Extracting is not always a straightforward process, and results can vary depending on the the quality and contents of the source image, and... in no small part, the skill of the extractor. I've only just started doing extractions myself, but if you'd like to see some visual examples here's a link! If you want to see how an extraction appears over a background, I recommend you download one, then upload it as your profile picture (You can always revert to your original picture afterwards).
Sure, I don't mind. ^ ^ And not to worry... most people aren't familiar with the word "Extractions" either... Also the word itself has become somewhat obsolete, since the more preferred word with the same meaning these days is "Renders". Hmm... I suppose if you type "Pokemon Renders" under Google Images, you might get closer results as to what I mean. Anyhoo "Extraction" (or "Render") is term used to describe a digitised image where one or more of its subjects have been separated (i.e. extracted) from the rest of its contents. The most typical extraction is an image of a character (e.g. a Pokemon) without a background. With the right software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop) extractions like these can be easily combined with other images to create composite pictures. For example, you might have a picture of a scene and an extraction of a character - because the extraction has no background it can be inserted as a layer over the former to create a complete picture.
It's from the second episode of Game of Thrones. And it is indeed awesome.
thanks for the request
(Message continued...) Of course, I'd have said all this in that thread, but since that'd be against its rules I thought it better to write any further comments here! Anyhoo thanks. Btw on a side note, I am something of a Pokefan as well, although tbh I don't play the games much; but... I was a keen card collector up to the 2nd generation of Pokemon, and I've recently taken to doing a few Pokemon extractions lately. Should you be interested at some point, I'd be happy to send you a link!
