Where minds may mire their ponderous desire
We find the sunder of living brothers-
In arms laid bare upon paths split in twain
Where one might wander, the other wonders
Within the insights of the surreal and the bland
A sword sits between the two beaten hands,
An edge for the sweetness of...
As time passes by in it's simplest form
I breathe and read the abstract strings,
Which connect the realms of the born
To those of the three lost kings
Who sat upon their thrones;
Made of granite, marble and oak
Which carved into their bones,
The pain of their fellow folk
Between right and wrong
A sliver of ambiguity- whence,
Child-eyes question the world
The extent of it's ambivalence
It sits there unannounced
In its formal attire,
Outdated and outcast
Without desire or ire
With these last few heartbeats I'd breathe her breath
And find within her essence a soul to share,
Lost in the final moments before paradise
I could dream of no better measure of air
And as the moment peels in tow
I look back upon my life revealing,
The certain sort of sacred fold
The winds which flow onward to the west
Have beckoned forth signs of subtle behest,
Which seizes my breath as I listen in silence
With wonder of whether the wind is reliant
Can I rightfully see it's sincerity
When my eyes only see it's trail,
Are the tones quite true, I wonder
Rain like falling wishes
Pooling in the dark
The feelings in their heart
Could catch with but a spark
They came black-eyed
With dreams for rosaries
They smelled so sweet
Of sweat and rosemary
I opened my arms
It came crawling to me
A friend it said
Its smile white as bone
And eyes inside its head
Like two snake-eyes dice
At Craps rolled
Some poor fools entire savings
Now gone and sold
But its wriggling form wrapped me
This isn't a traditional Valentine's poem, but something inside of me told me to write it this way this year. Love can be hard at times, but it can also be hard to control. I would appreciate criticism, as well as love to hear your comments and opinions. Thank you....
In such a crowd
There is no fate
As you are watched
Our secret date
In your hand
You speak with me
To turn around
Or to let you flee
No day goes by without my consent-
To thank the ones who's time has been lent,
To me, my worries and my silent woes
For every second they have given is a treasure trove
Even as I lay here in my sleepless insurrection
I can't help but feel a ponderous detachment,
From all I adore, care for...
Fading voices accompany visions
Of times I've taken to heart,
The shaking of my hands parade-
Their evanescence as they depart
In toiling in the material
I have found the better days,
Lost in the memorial, as well-
As those of the amorous haze
Water playing among the dapples that the shadows make
Hard to tell the threshold of the river from the lapping lake
What is me and what are marks from social forge
Watch the river slowly dying as the lake engorge
River will you tell me where you are going to
Will you exist when you meet the...
Shards of severed suns are scatter
All across the view
A canyons scorching spire flare
Up from under you
I see you on your skull marked step
Your venom sword in hand
From your human throne you rise
Upon your minions stand
No do not move the mask
Let it cover and obscure
I cannot bear
The eyes that stare
Vacant and demure
What had they seen
I cannot, will not say
I fear to know
What they will show
The sun will come up soon...
I'll be asleep then...
When it will shine through your beautiful eyes...
Like a gentle kiss in disguise...
What it seems to be...
Is a sign from the heavens...
For you to rise and be about...

Hello AF and welcome to AF's very own Poetry Contest, hosted by Kagami Sama. Being your host, I can ensure that this contest will last an average of one month with the winner of this contest receiving an edited trophy, also going to be created by the great MaruDashi....
Note: I'm actually surprised by the rate I've been writing. So much inspiration. Though this one felt a little strained. As another note on it, the inspiration for this was quite... Interesting.
The righteous tasted mint
And caressed their putrid gold
As every shimmer and twinkle laid,
Hello AF Poets! When and why did you start writing poetry? Did a certain event get you into it or did you start up the hobby randomly? Me? Well in 5th grade we were having a poetry contest thing and I "almost won". Been into it ever since.
Two men fight for power
Two men seek the throne
One is made of brushstrokes
The other well-cut stone
The stone man’s eyes are piercing
They see with logic gaze
With sapphire pools of crystal
He see’s clean through the haze
I cannot share these words with you
With their darkness undefined
I always try to be the hero
But this time I can't, oh my~
I wonder when I can refine
My thoughts upon this matter,
As if every step is defined
By each idea we shatter
There once was a place,
In which dreams did appear,
And mystery developed,
And love persevered,
A garden of light,
A maze for the found,
I stepped inside the gate,
And heard the fine sounds,
Jericho you stood once here
A whisper in unhearing ears
Your name now lost to veil of tears
And petty mortal raving fears
Once stood walls of vaunting height
Once stood rubble, ghost of plight
Now stands naught at all but light
No cornerstone to meet my sight
It's been a while since I survived
The doubts and whispers plaguing you.
Could I pull you to this side?
I told myself so many times
I wouldn't simply let you go.
Would you even ask me why?
To force you across, the only choice.
If you could only hear my voice.
(A slight shift in my usual style; some freestyle and a shift in lines near the end. More of a cathartic piece, if anything.)
I lay here quietly
Lost in the dull-
Draining visions of mirth
I try to cull
Mists shift around my vision
Obscuring tangible abstractions
Silence, my voice
Pity my choice
Eons are trapped
Alone in my head
Kept until dead
... ... ... ... ... ... Why can’t I?
People talking to each other in soliloquy
Fire rising in their eyes like a destiny
Ageless murmurs echo marching infantry
Cast out your wars upon humanity
I waited in the corner, just a ghost
A sentinel in silence guard’s his post
Watching out across all the milling hosts
Of ideas and...
The deep Eldwood surrounds his sight and gaze
Still waves of leaves now break across the bark
Of ancient oak and silent stands of elm
The Sol an eye seeks him through shadow dark
Crisply, a crick, a crack, a gasp of twigs
An angel of the wood now stands before
Its sloping form bent down to...
Put your face down to pavement
Lick its bitter taste
Hands where I can see them
Words in darting haste
Eyeless gaze of windows
Gapping alley maw
Breathe the rolling fog
In the naked light I saw
To angels in store front
Staring the other way
Hey AF poets! What is your favorite type/form of poetry? Do you write the same type of poetry you read? Why?
Its only last week
My friend went away
Now I am hurtling
Flying into the fray
Half eaten tins of soup
Chili and cold oatmeal
Sit on the edge of my vision
Alone at the wheel
A satellite tossed out
