Converse with others in Japanese!
I read in another thread that "even though the particle "wa" is spelled "ha", it's bad practise to say "ha" when you're typing in a place like this, because the word "ha" by itself means something" so I will use "wa" in the future but what about "wo" or "o", wich is best to use? (of course...

Sort of self explanitory. I've been looking for a Japanese teacher for a few months now. I tried to learn off the internet but I know it will never compare to a real teacher. So far I know a few sentences and basic Katakana. But I neither know grammar or proper sentence formations. Or how to read...
I'm stuggling with a doujinshi I'm translating and I'm proud to say that I've translated so far a quater of the doujinshi. It's a Naruto yaoi doujinshi and right now I'm trying to translate this sentence that Sasuke is saying to Naruto. Half of it I get, but even though I know what the words mean...

For fair warning, I'm not someone that doesn't at least know a good few years of basic Japanese. My only problem understands how to translate written Japanese such as Manga and Doujinshi.
I'm right now trying to tackle a few of my own doujinshi that I had purchased a few months ago; all of it...
"...soushite, kare wa tengoku, kanojo wa chi datta..."
Is this how you would say, "... and then he was heaven and she was earth..."? Also, what is the common word for "earth" anyways? I have no clue and I don't think I should rely on a dictionary with too many different words for "earth"...

I have a friend who's asking me to translate this message for him to send to his girlfriend's father. As you can see by the letter she's just a gold digger who's taking advantage of him and I personally think this is a waste of time, but I did it anyways to test my skill :p
It's rushed with just...
topic of debate:
Is it good to use anime and manga as a study tool when learning Japanese? If so, under what circumstances?
I'm at the end of my rope with this one! It's a joke involving Japanese dialects, and everyone knows how tricky it is to translate those into English and keep the same idea...

I have been listening to a lot of podcasts lately and came across a good one for studying Japanese. It is called JapanesePod 101. The podcast itself is free, but they have class notes and other features on their site for a fee.
If you have any other podcasts of interest to those studying...
I have a question about the meaning of some kanji. Right now the resource that I'm using has meanings like this BU/FUN/BUN/wa(keru),wa(kareru),wa(karu). And I was wondering if I needed to remember all the kun readings or just 'wa'. Thanks in advance :)
Since kanji is about the hardest thing in learning Japanese, a new thing we just added, is in lyrics kanji view, you can mouseover any kanji and get a tooltip with the kanji information, including stroke count, readings, and meanings. Take a look at it (ex:...

I need to know what "Kainashi No Yoru Ni" means. ^_~ arigatou gozaimasu:p
This might belong in the lyrics forum, but I think it belongs here because I'm asking the critique of those knowledgable in Japanese.
Basically, someone asked me to write some Japanese lyrics for some music they wrote. I plan on asking my old sensei about this some time, but until then, I need...
Does anyone know a site that teaches the strokes for each kanji. thejapanesepage.com teaches it for most of 4 but not all of them. I really just need to know the strokes since I have other sources for the meanings. Thanks to anyone who can help :)
...For Hayao Miyazaki? I thought it might be a good add-on for my author presentation on Monday to have my foreign author have his name in Hiragana and Kanji... Please use pictures if you do know because my computer doesn't support Japanese/Chinese text. The only two kanji text I do have, however...
