Why you watch "romance animes"....

I watch romance animes for several reasons. Its a break from the many shounen animes that are exposed to me. I don't watch many animes at all but if I do its usually Bleach, Naruto, etc. I wanted something different so I turn to spice of life animes like AH My Goddess or School Rumble. Another reason is because I can't really get a gf. Rejected since high school. I've lost count on how many times thats happened. Even after getting to know them I guess I'm still not good enough for any of them. So I set aside my own happiness (which I don't have anymore) and watch other couples' romantic story. It takes away my depressive state.
I always feel happy for the couple and stuff. And I always tell myself "I wish I didn't look like me so I could have that too."

i enjoy romance anime/manga because they are both hilarious and heart warming. also, due to the very nature of the subject matter, they focus a LOT on interpersonal relationships between all the characters and i enjoy that kind of character development

dunno about all the living vicariously through romance anime characters stuff you were talking about, though. the romance depicted in fictional works like these is pretty different from real life. you'd be better off enjoying the company of your friends and finding someone special

I enjoy romance animes because i'm a big romantic and it was my comfort when i was alone during high school so i've always had specialplace in my heart for them..

I still enjoy watching them now because they remain a good source of joy for me..

well i just watch romantic anime cause i like romance. besides most of it would be impossible to happen in real life. i love dreaming. As for finding someone in real life, i dont really want a relationship,cause i just got out of one.

Me I watch them for something a bit different.
Normally I like nothing more then a good action series (Like Gundam seed etc)
but every now and then it is good to sit back and mellow out to a simple tale of romance with perhaps a little comedy mixed in (Currently Please Teacher!)

other ways I enjoy romances are romantic comedies for where I want something funny to watch but still have a more light hearted overall atmosphere to some of the more action orientated shows(such as love Hina)

also finally I guess (and have been told) that secretly I am a romantic and romance stories can be just fun to watch and enjoy.

I watch romance anime because I like the range of emotions the tend to play on; they can be funny, sad, they can make you smile or cry, the characters seem to develop through the story on a different level to those in anime like bleach or naruto. This is why xD
Plus, relationships are hard so it's nice to see the characters have a happy ending and it's heartbreaking when they don't.

The stories are usually really cute and touching, and anything that can invoke emotions from my soul is okay by me.

And you can get a girlfriend. Anyone can. There's actually a pretty foolproof method to get your foot in the door. PM me sometime.

I personally love romance animes, well mostly the romance/comedy ones like School Rumble and Ouran High. Well I could tell you why girls rejected you but then that's going into the psychological aspect of your mind and human when it comes to relationship. The only romance Animes are the romance/comedy Animes, but the reason why I watch them because they are very hilarious and heart warming at the same time. The characters also develop differently level than other Animes, such as Bleach.

I like romance anime for 2 reasons:
1) ecchi is fun to watch (as long as it doesnt obscure the story) and brings comic relief to my friday night
2) Romance anime gives me some heart felt emotional depth that I covet so much

While traversing the jungle called "High School" i did spot the ever so rare female otaku. She liked manga mostly and we watched some more feminine anime like azumanga daioh and fruit basket together. I think we had a thing going, well at least there were moments, but alas, I'm such a coward and suffer from low confidence. yes I can keep making excuses for my loss(es) in life but I find it better to get out there and meet people. you never know... u could find love right around the corner

But I had no access to anything like that when I was... five. And I didnt even start watching anime until about 2 years ago, so I didnt have anything to watch romance wise. And no one else I know in my life knows I LOVE romance... So when I started watching anime, I ate up all the romance genre.
But does anyone else find that weird? Romance at five...

Absolutly nothing weird with that cuz im the exact same way. I've always said im just born as a romanticist because of the way I covet the raw emotions in them. Indeed i didnt find anime til my highschool career but in reality i have always been drawn to them.
So basically u dont worry its not just u its me and a lot more ppl in this forum and i know it.... well at least believing it is more reassuring right? :D
