I have been told, and I have looked around and I have found out that Gainex is making a Evangelion Live action movie it is in preproduction, and they are using the same people who did the special effects for Lord of the Rings. and an american company is going to help with the budget, and the marketing. This is really all i know so far. so if any one knows any thing else please tell me. I must know.

...I can only dread something like this, I personally feel that you can't take something as large and dynamic as Evangelion and have it work on the big screen. Of coarse I said the same thing about the LOTR saga so I might be wrong here, its just...well has anyone else seen the live action DBZ movie (yes they had one) if so you know why I hope they scrap these plans.

well they have a limitless budget, also they are going to do it like LOTR, they want to do 3 or 4 movies.

Are you sure thats how it is? Anime Insider said that ADV is producing it, with the help of Gainax and Weta Workshop Ltd. (The LOTR effects people). And that makes me believe it will be an american movie.

In the next 1-3 years there will be an influx of american produced anime movies. The only two I have much hope for are Evangelion and Battle Angel Alita.

List of known American Live-action Anime-Movies in production:
Eva
Battle Angel Alita
Ninja Scroll
Lupin the Third
Lone Wolf and Cub
DBZ
Akira

My list may be dated though...

Actually, Lone Wolf and Cub already has a whole live action series devoted to them if thats what your talking about. It was made in the days of black and white though.

i just hope whoever makes it will make the plot with so much left out stuff that you'll have to see the anime to comprehend any of it, so stupid non-otakus wont be obssesed with eva only after seeing the movie, anime is the only line btween me and my classmates which makes me, me. with out anime i wouldnt exsist in the mind of my own fellow classmtes :(

I really hope they don't use some of the cast hopefuls from Anime Insider. Daniel Radcliffe, Hilary Duff and Haley Joel Osment just don't seem to fit into something like Evangelion. To me it seems like they would be throwing a whole bunch of little "Disney star" brats in the movie just because their popularity. Hollywood needs some new actors anyways.

I apologize if any of this is offensive to you, it's merely my opinion.

I completely agree with Mr. Alexander, so unless they plan to turn it into a "Disney Sleepover" I don't think it'll turn out too well... just a thought...

I dont think that they will use the same old disny brats that they have used in american kiddy movies, because Eva is an adult genra. and It isnt to apealing to may disny fans. aside from that I herd that they are going to use the kid off of 6th sence for Senji.

Several of the customers of the anime shop I work at have been talking about this. One said that there are interviews with production staff or some such on the Director's Cut DVDs of the anime, which are currently being released.

He said that yes, it is an American production. According to what I have been told, it will take place in Japan (possibly), but will be very Americanized. Even the characters' names shall be changed. Even Asuka, who is German, will be given a different, more "American" name.

And no, they do NOT have a limitless budget. There is no such thing. And, from what I've been told, they don't really have all that great of a budget, actually.

My prediction? It will be crap. Maybe there will be rioting like what fans did after the last ep of the anime. That would be amusing.

Why do I think it will be crap? Because, besides there not being any possible way for them to reproduce giant bio-mech beings that fight just as giant monsters and make it look believable (can we say bad CG, anyone?)...and the horrible butchering of original characters.... The plot will look as if a chainsaw had been taken to it. It will NOT be Eva. Now, maybe some of you are like another customer of ours who said it did not matter to him what the plot was like, as long as they had really good giant robot fighting...but... If you are an Eva fan, and you went to see this movie because you wanted to see something Eva-esque.... I believe you'd be horribly disappointed.

If I'm wrong, I'll give away all my yaoi manga. And for those who don't know me...yaoi is a mild obsession for me....I love my manga.

Evangelion can't be evangelion without the evas right? This sucks...To that somebody who doesn't care about the plot: What do you care about then? No offense, but the only reason Neon Genesis Evangelion has been a hit to the people is because of the plot. To all of you who read this message: Agree or Disagree? Please don't hate me...I'm just expressing my opinion
