Dragonball: revenge of king Piccolo
This Wii exclusive title follows Kid Goku (the first time he was a kid, not that other time) through the story of the original Dragonball series. It's a 2.5D sidescrolling beat-em-up. The engine is 3D, so Goku has a free range of movement, but the game limits him to a thin track, making it feel and play more like a classic beat-em-up.
The game follows the show, both in style and in story. It's cell shaded, and looked pretty crisp. The game features both Japanese and English voice acting, and features the original cast for both.
It's coming exclusively to Wii later on this year, I can't wait for it im going to preorder as soon as I can. what are your thoughts on the game?

I was trying to keep it simple and just have the basic info but oh well.
07-10-2009, 11:42 AM
Sorry..^_^ Also, the video doesn't show half what the game's offering and people cannot make a constructive opinion about the game.

Your info is great just a little TL;DR but that doesnt matter.

looks a lot like that DB game that came out for the GBA ages ago where to play as Goku from the start of DB all the way to beating king piccalo but in that one they left out many of the bad guys goku fights along the way like all piccalo's minons and that.
looks the part I guess.
So many games I must have for this year...might as well add this to my collection too.

This is the worst... ugh. The whole "tl;dr" thing is just stupid. Outright retarded to me. It discredits good posters and discourages from people from posting better posts. So what if they are long? You're staring at a screen and reading all day long anyway.
I think Blue Stone's post was pretty informative and thorough. Yes, it was super long, but it had complete information in it, which is a good thing. It prevents us from having to venture out of the safety of the forums to other websites to find information on our own!

TL;DR? Sorry but what does that mean? That term has never been use in the other forums I visit.
and that post is super long? XD

My apologies for another long post and a double post too.
New info, but will remove the pictures because it makes the post more larger AND we can see them in my first post.
In October Goku drops his magic cloud to land on the Wii and give us an adventure that precedes the Manida storyline of the series Dragon Ball Z, with interesting surprises that surely will delight the die-hard fans of the franchise.
What Dragon Ball back to the forefront of today is synonymous with quality, especially on Nintendo Wii, where the new release from Bandai Namco is full of surprises. First of all, the most noteworthy is the argument. Far from being repeated for the hundredth time raster plot of the Z series and face Freezer, Cell and Buu recreating episodes reliably, the adventure takes us to the beginning of the series with a child that Goku is still and will always queue with his cane and his magic cloud. To place well in the anime series, drive the young actor in the period just before fighting the army of Red Ribbon (Red Ribbon), and the fight against Piccolo Daimao.
Although the horizontal scroll, all the characters are three dimensional and can move in depth, not just to the right and left. This type of game is very varied at different stages because from the bottom of the screen to dodge enemies, platforms to jump, etc. With respect to the scenarios that we can fulfill its function well, are very colorful, with a cell shading to match the rest of the game with all the style and Dragon Ball, many of them moving and not destroyed or stolen protagonism the enemies or Goku, who travel by them at a dizzying pace.
This leads the player to cross with old friends from the anime series that looks really detailed look, this is the case of Tao Pai Pai, the Red Ribbon mercenary who must take account of Goku, General Blue with its paralyzing gaze, Murasaki Ninja or the Sergeant with his monster Buyon cash, ready to wear it so difficult for the warrior in his day as they did in the original television series.
If the story and the characters are relatively new, is no less innovative gameplay mechanics. It is not a wrestling game 1vs1 but you can use to fight this way, nor a platform game but our expertise in the falls is vital for progress, not a crushing beat'em up buttons while leaving us many enemies on screen, more wise it is a homogeneous mixture between the genres previously documented. At first glance, the most striking characteristic passing through the use of cell shading, which leads us to contemplate virtually animated in 3D, with a palette of colors from the ink Toriyama himself. The intention at the time of capturing the movements of the characters is to get a look as close as possible to the animated series, as well as several special techniques and strokes. Since the beginning of the game will appear exclamations and onomatopoeia in Japanese as the power of our strokes, a style that Namco Bandai has recovered towards providing greater credibility in the adventure, not forgetting the occasional comedy hits in the first bars of the saga.
With regard to control and game experience we can say that from the first minute of play you will feel on the skin of our little warrior. Have opted for a kind of simple and intuitive, though, he abandons the use of the Nunchuk's motion sensor, it is reduced to small steps in that Goku or desaturdir to focus their energies on occasion. But simplicity of control does not mean poor quality, quite the opposite, as you move the adventure we will acquire more skills, all necessary to fight the enemies end of each episode. Each level of play is divided into three or four stages to finish with a final boss, usually along the phases are collecting items that can help us in the work of the successful completion of this final confrontation, while others can be acquired with coins collected during the phases, because by eliminating the enemies dropping bags of coins. The classical energy bars will tell us that we health and the amount of hits we can make special, where our character, we can make three "Kamehameha" followed once the bars are full of energy.
The realization of these special attacks is quite easy because of the cross-control knob is responsible for triggering these streams of energy. Many blows along the stage and a system for setting goals target Z, ie Z can be changed by pressing the enemy, allowing Goku, jump, do a good combo and air before falling and have set the new opponent, which gives the player a speed vibrating in the fight against 5 or 6 opponents as sometimes happens, we mastered this move will open the doors to hidden areas at some stage or the possibility of catching a moving platforms and dodge all hazards.
Can see similarities with the game Dragon Ball Advance Adventure for GBA and a style that is linear in the beat'em up that we can not choose the way forward, as well as can be seen glimpses of the game Dragon Ball Origins DS and not just the plot by plot, but the spirit of adventure that evokes the inclusion of areas hidden treasures and progressive learning techniques that we see before us, by which control is gradual and tailored to all audiences.
Although the horizontal scroll, all the characters are three dimensional and can move in depth, not just to the right and left. With respect to the scenarios that we can fulfill its function well, are very colorful, with a cell shading to match the rest of the game with all the style and Dragon Ball, many of them moving and not destroyed or stolen protagonism the enemies or Goku, who travel by them at a dizzying pace.
For those that seem little adventure will include a way to only 1vs1 Budokai fighting style, we see that this game mode, startup is blocked, it will be necessary to switch from one game or whole in order to access it, still do not know how and have to wait until they leave the market in order to find out. From the little we have seen the mechanics of the fight is similar to Budokai may teleport behind our contestants, dodge their attacks, cast spells, etc. Which will delight those who want to stir nostalgic mourning for the characters that drove go to this mythical saga. The estimate of fighters in this way amounts to 16 and although we do not have a definitive number of scenarios where we could see them fight three of them in the ring fighting Martial Arts Tournament, the arena of struggle and the Witch Baba the roof of one of the towers of the Red Ribbon Army.
With regard to the sound section, you can choose voices in perfect English and Japanese, there is no translation into Spanish, as is customary with the Dragon Ball games, and yes we can see subtitles in Castilian. The music is inspired by his part in the original anime series, but all items are new, developed specifically for this game.
Few months left to enjoy this game (in Japan comes out on July 23) and certify that it is not a game about the successful footsteps of the Dragon Ball franchise, but a qualitative improvement in the series of the popular video game Toriyama series and a future reference point for this kind of games on other platforms. The variety of situations in which it appears that we may see us and experience immersed the first steps of Goku's life can make this a vital game in the series, we will give everything of himself from October.
