Well last anyone heard its real. But that could well change, couldnt it. I mean theres a tentative cast and everything, but movies often get cancelled at that sorta stage. Hope it doesnt though!

I sincerely doubt they would end up similar - just as dragon ball and cowbop are both great anime but worlds and worlds apart. If anything, the shorter, stylish cowboy bebop lends itself to movie format more Id say - it must be really hard to capture the essance of a 200+ epsiode anime in a couple of hours. However, cowboy bebop could be great if they get the look and feel right. I mean, even if its not 100% true to the anime, and does something a bit different, its a great premise and should turn out better. I mean its not hard to do right!?

If it is real i want it to faye to be hot as hell. thats just bottom line. it has to happen or the movie wont be perfect. the problem is that if they did make a movie they dont need to screw it up like the dragonball evolution movie which in my opinion was not up to par ( agreeing with DarkMoonPrince). but it does have some potential to be a god idea. where did you hear this from?

If I remember correctly, they had an Akira live action scheduled, but it was canceled.

I really hope it turn's out good, I don't think it will though, my biggest worry is if they screw with the story like they did with Dragonball also im worred about how the characters will turn out especially Ed.

I'm optimistic about the Bebop live-action movie; I recall reading an interview with the screenwriter for it, and he said that he really liked the anime and said they were working very closely with the original producers of Bebop. Now if only I could find a link to that interview...

Well this looks like a good idea, but after the dragon ball movie I will only have one reason to see this one..... Laugh...... sorry, but I really do hope it is good but I think they will somehow screw it up.
If any anime has a chance of being good in hollywood then this would be the one.

Can they even do it? What part of the story are they gonna base the script on? Ballad of Fallen Angels, or at the end, with the death of Spike (it IS Keanu Reeves)? Will it be BEFORE Spike and Jet met up with Faye, Ein, and Ed? What about Vicious and Julia, and whatever triangle there has seemed to be?

Actually, they plan to stick very close to the anime, hence why they have most of the anime'sproduction staff (including writers and directors) providing assitance in creating the screenplay.

The fact it says summer 2008 at the bottom is a bit of a giveaway it's fake, also I doubt they will use the same tagline as the anime movie.

Yeah my dad told me about him playing as Spike. I really honestly can't see him playing Spike but that's just me.

But as far as this movie being another Dragon Ball Z horrible movie, I'm not to sure on that because movies like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Samurai Champloo and Ghost in the Shell; these are movies that I can see actually being made and turned into live action and could have the chance in being big in the box office; IF the right director makes it and the right actors are in it. But thats just my feel of it.

I'm not ruling this movie out until I see a trailer of it lol

I can't see this movie happening after dragonball turned out to be such a dud. If it is to be a live-action movie Ron Pearlman (Hellboy) should play Jet, and omg don't let keanu reeves anywhere near this movie, he can't act, simple as

Listen, I'm not jumping in the gun here on anything. Cowboy Bebop is dear to me like it is to all of you too.. But give hollywood a lil chance here.

1. It's not like DBZ where it's 276 episodes long and has super insane blasts, crazy martial art skillz and hair...
2. Cowboy bebop was realistic, with guns and all.
3. The story line is not hard to get, rofl so they should be able to fit it into an hour and ahalf movie of Spike finding Julia, her dying, then Spike dying in his final fight with Vicious.

yeah ive been hearing that little rumor about Keanu Reeves as spike, i have mixed feelings on the whole idea of this becoming a live action movie in general. that's only because CB is my favorite anime and i don't want to see the good name ruined by Hollywood they already did that to my comic book heroes

I came across it on IMDB. I'm pretty upset about it, but hey, I'm a fan of bebop so I'm still going to watch it.
It's scheduled for 1011 though, so it can still be abandoned. Either way, I don't mind. I'm still going to see it if it does come out though.
