I do belive he is a bit mean but I wouldn't call him an "ahole" nor woudl I call him a "jerk."
Now... knowing a bit mroe of his past has to be interesting! It would do great to not only the series but Uryu and has father themselves!

I agree that he's a bit of a jerk, but he does have a point even if his has a pretty mean way to show it. He didn't chase around hollows so that he could support his family. Its kind of honorable to give up on fun and adventure for the good of his family.

And he saved Uryu from the "dooms-day of the Quincy" right? SOrry, I'm slow and it never said how Uryu, Ryuken, or Soken Ishida escaped that day, onyl how Uryu didn't get attacked by a hollow and watched Soken die but his father wasn't there.
