Yamamoto is the strongest captain. Followed by Shunsui and Ukitake. Ichigo already Beat the hell up Zaraki and Byakuya, so I dont think none of them can be the strongest of Gotei 13.

i agree with you, ichigo beat kenpachi with Shikai, but it took Bankai to take down byakuya...

i believe that Yamamoto is the strongest currently, but aizen is the strongest of all previous captains...

but you forget that Unohana Retsu was the second captain assigned, than Ukitake and Shunsui, so she must be really strong... i bet she's a kido master... it would make sense if you think about it due to the requirements of pretty good kido skills to be able to use healing kido

Damn right! I mean kenny is a complete bamf, but just is not in the same league - he is probs almost as stronng as yamamoto, but has nothing like the technique or experience. Some say Unohana is actually really strong. I think she may be, if she ever has to fight full on. She is certainly very smart and powerful. Byakua was definitely powerful too, but where he comes on the scale I dont know. But his bankai is amazing, and look how effortlessly he defeated the 7th espada, when ichigo had so much trouble with the 6th.

As to the 8th squad captain, he is meant to be really strong, cant wait to see him fight stark. reckon he might be stronger even than kenny or byakua.

Though he is an awesome character, and doubtless very powerful, I dont think hitsugaya is as good as these guys, though he is in the same league, but i still reckon he will improve as he gets older... though i would never say that to his face!!!!

Actually Aizen is stronger than yamamato and he is a captain of 5th division so i guess that's Aizen. But if we count him as retired so :

Yes, Kenpachi is fearless and he's captain of 11th company--the company known for military force and the "strongest"--yet he isn't the strongest. Acroding to my research on Bleach, each captain is stronger in their own way...
For example: Kenpachi may be stronger when it comes to fear for he frigthens others instead of being frigthened. Although I ahve to agree with Tosen, I'm sorry. Kenpachi did disrubt the peace in the Soul Society by helping the ryoka only because Ichigo Kurosaki is a strong and worthy fighter and this makes him happy.

Sicne I have mentioned Tosen: I think he'd be stronger in the fac tthat eh can detect and find his opponent even his way around so quickly in new places and battles when he was BORN BLIND! I know he could just sense spiritual pressure to find people but before then, hwo did he survive? He didn't even know what he was sensing probably.

And that woman he loved... what ebcame of her? OH WOAH--sorry! I sorta... am curiosu abotu that. I know that [sooiler]she died[/spoiler] but I wanna know more about past and future, and....... I'm too much of a fangirl so BACK ON TOPIC!

As far as Aizen, that depends on whether you're counting captains past and present, or only captains currently in the 13 Gotei at this period of the series (anime or manga).

For Captains past and present, my guess for the strongest would be Urahara Kisuke, former captain of the 3rd Squad and current shopkeeper. ;)

Id say its pretty much been laid out in the series that the older they are the more their power increases so itd be (Also this only takes into account up to the S.S. arc, not what Aizen has become now)
