Evangelion Ending

Hi, I was wondering if someone could explain the ending of Evangelion to me. I know that Rai is an alien/human clone, when they kill her, they just reclone her. Asuka and Shinji are the last surviving people of Nerv, evereyone else was killed when the base was attacked, or turned to goo. Whats with the goo? Someone please sort this out for me! thanks.

i can explain it to the best of my abilities..even though i haven't watched it over 2 years since i first saw the subbed version of end of evangelion. rei is not an alien. she is an angel. she is a clone of shinji's mom. that gendo named her rei because she is the only person he can get a long with. she also fused with lilith because she wanted noah's ark to happen. the reason why when the rei clones touched the people and turned into goo is because they know they have to be reborn. that's why noah's ark was supposed to happen.

i have the box set and i watched it about 1 year ago but can you remind me what noah's arc is? i mean i agree with tarnak it was kinda confusing

I made perfect sense to me. Lets see if I can explain it in words,

Rei, was actually an angel, the way I saw it she more like a countrpart to Lilith (the angel she merged with). That goo was what represented when they said like "All life will become one again." or something like that. So every lifefore on the planet was turned into the same thing, that goo stuff. Asuka and Shinji survived, because Shinji was in the Unit01, so I assume he was nessecery for the entire ritual. As for Asuka, I believe that her will to live, was so strong that she was not turned into the goo, or maybe it was Shinji's need and want for her that kept her alive. Rei/Lilith was eventually killed when Shinji regained his confidance in himself. I'm not exactly sure, if all life was eventually returned to the wy it was because Shinji stopped Rei, or if Asuka and him were afterall the last humans left in the world.

Well, thats kinda how I depicted it, I hope that makes sense to someone.

Rei, is half angle(which is a miss translation they where sopost to be prophits) and half human, Shinji's mom. there are three of that lived, child killed by ritsku's mother, the second killed her self protecting Shinji, and the third is the one you see at the end.
EOE ends like that because the director wanted it to be left to people to determen for them self what they wanted. But what I can tell you is this either the evangelion project worked and all living people where eveloved itno one living soul, or it failed and ever one that went to liquid came back, Asuka at the end is really a mix between rei, Asuka, and misito. the three emportent women in SHinjis life. Notice the bandages on Asuka at the end of EOE, and on Rei in the begenning of the first episode. Any way Shinji's mother was in 01, she was absorbed, and Shinji descides if it works or doesn't. one thing I can tell you is that he decidese not to evolve so he can find happyness.
Neon Genesis Evangelion, and EOE are very deep, you really need to study True Christianity to understand it all, and you also hafe to look alot of it up, and watch it over and over again.
but you can look foward to a NGE live action movie, they are working on the script right now preproduction.
any way I hopped that helped a little if you really need to find out more read the red book, and look it up online there are alot of good sites that will help you.
also I really screwed up the spelling. LOL spelling is not my strong point nor is Calculas.

I can explain it so easily. Remember in a previous episode where Shinji turns to "primordal soup" or what not. The "goo" is the primordal soup. It explains it in that previous episode. The goo is the form we used to be like 938475983475873958734 years ago. Because everyone is supposed to turn to one body again in the last episode.

same "goo" as the LCL, that comes from Lilith. and the blood ocean at the end of eoe, looks like the uncharged LCL pool around lilith.

all the ppl turn to goo because they are going to combine to form Adam (the first angel). a long time before ppl were ont he earth, the angels were around. something happened involving adam, and half of he/it was split into billions of little creatures, the creatures being humans. during the series, the angels want to free adam so he can become whole again by absorbing humanity (or something like that, its confuzing).

Wasn't it that Shinji and Asuka rejected the Human Instrumentatily project and wanted the pain with the joy, like having a choice over one's future

But this isn't what Shinji wants...it's not real, he wants the pain, he wants the chance of real happiness. He needs that sense of realism and as such rises out of the sea of LCL, the Dead Sea, and makes his way back to shore ready to face the challenges of his new life. Whether others choose to follow in his footsteps is down to them...and thus life goes on.

Isn't it that Rei is a clone of Ikari's wife Yui, and thay of Lilith, one of the angel's that came on the second impact?
