I've only watched a couple of episodes from the show, and the saddest one that I have watched is the one where this one guy combines his daughter with a dog. What a sicko. I was really angry too.

I agree with you both. Ep 7 with his daughters Chimera, plus when Scar put killed it was so disturbing sad to watch I wanted to cry. Same goes for 25 with Hughes death and his daughter asking why they're putting "daddy" in the ground. I personally couldnt think of any other parts of the series that were as saddening as those two.

I agree both of those episodes were incredibly sad I actually did cry. I think those were the saddest scenes I seen in any anime.

Scar's death was pretty saddening. I would also say Martel's death was somewhat full of sorrow, just in the manner she died and Alphonse's suit of armor was filled with blood... Almost as if someone had killed him.

Well, Hughes death episode was quite sad:closedeye . The funeral scene was quite sad too. Even Roy Mustang had to cry for his friend's death. The death of a humorous and friendly person, Hughes, made it a really sad episode.

I totally agree.
The Nina episode was probably the saddest, but I also cried buckets during the Hughes' burial scene.

There were alot of sad parts in this anime, probably the most 'emotional' anime I've ever seen, referring to the fact that it has the ability to cause you to go through a varied cycle of emotions while watching it. Some parts are hilarious, you can't stop laughing, and others make you want to bawl your eyes out.

Anywho, saddest eps I also agree was Hughes and Chimera ones. Actually alot of the deaths were sad, even on the villian's sides. I think Scar and Martel were also mentioned above^ those were sad too.

I have to say though that the Chimera ep and Hughes's funeral ep were indeed the saddest eps.

I'd say 25, it was the only episode of any anime to make me cry my eyes out. Also, 48, 50, and 51 made me tear up.

Indeed, Words of Farewell (Ep. 25) is one of the saddest moments in FMA, or any show I've seen. GOD I LOVE THAT SHOW!! I'm gonna go watch it right now!

Yes, I agree, though there were a lot of very tragic moments in FMA, the saddest have got to be the 3 most mentioned - 7 (with nina), 25 (with huges) and scar's death, which had a certain nobility about it, in that he died for his beliefs - and worked so hard to ensure the civillians got out

Also while the ending was generally optimistic I found it pretty sad, cos the brothers were split up. Finally I suppose the flashbacks of mustangs' were very sad too - they were brutal about the truthes of war

I am glad to see I wasn't the only one that cried a lot in ep 25, I felt so silly because I just couldn't stop, I was a mess for the whole end of the episode, very depressing.
Also, yes episode 7 with Nina was sad too, especially because even as a Chimera, Nina still called Ed Little Big Brother, and Ed's reaction when Scar killed her/ put her out of her misery, really got to me, it was so heartbreaking. :(

My Vote is 7 because i have oly seen up to ep 19. But the way people describe it, it sounds very sad too.

i think the one where hughes dies is the saddest it was a good way by the makers to show that anyone can die in the show and wat better way to do it than kill off the funniest kindest charactor in it and the main charactor

The sadest episode of full metal alchemist would have to be the episode were Ed dies, I think it was 49 but I'm not sure about that. Ed can't die, he was too awesome... luckilly he came back better than ever.

That episode was horrible. It made me tear up a bit. After watching that, I didn't watch FMA again for about a year.

Both are very powerful emotionally...and two of my absolute favorites because of it... but I'd say 25 takes the title, it hits a reality nerve very strongly.

I would have to agree on episode 25 because, it's just very heart breaking to hear Al say things like that about himself. Also the suffering he goes through in that episode dose not help.

Definitely going to agree with ep. 25 because Hughes was one of the best characters. ESPECIALLY, because of the way he just loved his daughter so much, and for her to lose such a loving father. Oh, that really was sad.

And of course episode 51 is a given. I don't want to say why because some of you may have not seen it yet but it is truly one of the sadder episodes, even if it is the last.

I definitely have to agree with episode 7. I know it's not real, but I'd just be amazed if someone would do that to their family. Sad, sad, twisted episode.

I'm gonna have to say the episode where Scar kills Nina as a chimera, was ranked #3 saddest for me. The second saddest was when Hughes died, I almost cried. But the top-most saddest was the very last episode. SPOILERS BELOW!

It broke my heart when Al sacrificed himself to bring back Ed..And then Ed transmuted himself to the other side of the gate to bring Al back. The saddest part was when Ed found out that he was in the "alternate" world, with his dad, and alchemy was useless. The Elric brothers were so close that it was heart-breaking to see them separated.
