I remember one of my first exposures to anime was on the SciFi channel during their old Saturday blocks (I believe) back in the mid to late 90's.
The plot was something like a teen guy is seeking revenge on his father who is leading some kind of mechanization revolution, with people taking on robotic bodies to live forever. His mother dissaproves strongly, but the boy attempts to go to the moon colony to find his father (I think). Along the way, he encounters some anit-robot resistance group in some swampy area. Their leader is an old bearded guy who shows of some explosive bullets still lodged in his body that never went off.
The boy struggles with wether or not he will get a robotic body, but I don't remember what he chooses. I'm pretty sure he gets to the moon eventually.
The animation style was classic, no CG, on the darker side. Sort of like "Macross: Do You Remember Love?".
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Keep in mind I could be a little off on the details...
I've checked the wikipedia for anime shows SciFi has aired, but the list isn't complete, and none of the show's descriptions really matched. Casshan sounded close, but I don't remember any goofy superhero suits.
