View Full Version : Letter replacement (Ergo Proxy for example)

Now with a number of dubbed anime the group putting the product out went through and replaced japanese characters with english words.

However that was usually on flat signs and the like. Ergo Proxy, for example, has english characters in higher art type settings. VR displays, or highly stylistic letters.

My question is if video editing has gotten a lot better so they can pull those sort of switches off or if when you see that stuff it means the series actually had english in it from the start?

Does it matter if the product is subbed or dubbed (i.e. do they not letter replace in subbs)
