A few years ago there was an anime about to robot cities. In the beginning a militay type found a girl in a crystal. He took her and raised her. Later, She got involved with a resistance fighter from the other robot city. Anyway, in the end she attached herself to the robot city and a battle took place.

This sounds like Detonator Orgun, but then it doesn't entirely match up.

A girl found in a crystal you say? Reminds me of that Anime with space ships that had arms and Toa Priests.. But ti's not that.

There are a few things I remember.

When the military guy found the girl in the crystal, there were butterflies involved.

The bad guy hooked himself into one of the machine cities and the girl into the other and they battled it out.

That's about all that wasn't normal anime.
