ok so naruto's dad is the Fourth Hokage right? and the Fourth Hokage's name is Minato Namikaze and his mom is Kushina Uzumaki. Why does he go by his mom's last name and not his dad's?

P.S. sorry if there is a thread like this.

Well.. heheh. :D They havn't (as I know it) ever said who's Naruto's father in the anime, yet, but I aswell belives that it is the fourth hokage. If it is, maybe they will tell us in the end or so. The future will tell who it is..

Maybe so Naruto would never find out his father was the Fourth Hokage. This would probably keep it secretive. If he knew the last name of the 4th, and it was actually Uzumaki, he might brag, or he might feel bad, depending on how he looked at it. If he knew that the greatest Hokage ever was his father, he might boast, and stop working, on the other hand, he might feel sad that it was his own father who gave him the Nine-Tailed Fox and also a horrible life.

But they never actually say the fourth's name or last name. I don't think any of the genin know what his actual name is. They probably just know him as the Fourth Hokage.

But the other Hokage after him know it, and there would probably be written records of it somewhere, and knowing Naruto, he might be nosy and find them. Who's to say? Maybe they DO know, they just never say it on the show.

the fourths last name IS NOT uzumaki. :wacko:

he probably took the name of his mother so he would never find out that his father was the fourth hokage...

I'm not entairly sure, we haven't been told yet about that.

Does it say that Naruto's mother and father were MARRIED? Because if not, then he would have his mothers last name.

Well from what i know its Uzumaki so that no one would know that he is the fourths kid!So that no one would chase him and he could remain hiden.The fourth asked the people to think of Naruto as a hero but no one did that.I am sure Jiraya and the third know the truth of Narutos parents!

He doesn't know either his mother or father's name, so he could have no preference.

That's stupid. No other Hokage bothered to hide their children. The only reason anyone would want Naruto is the Nine-Tailed Fox in his stomach- and it's location was common knowledge to everyone in the village.

we KNOW that they aren't married, since of their names.

and we KNOW naruto has the same surname as his mother, where as he hasn't adopted the surname of his father.

Hm...I always wondered if the Fourth Hokage was Naruto's father...I mean, why would the Hokage seal the Kyuubi in someone else's child besides his own? That would just be weird...Hm...Naruto looks so much like the Fourth Hokage that they HAVE to be related...maybe he is his father ^_^ lol.

Okay let me explain what she ment. When a couple arent married, the child gets the surname of the mother and if they were married the child would get the surname of the father. So in Naruto's case, he got his mother's surname.

I know its kinda confusing.

but i can see where they could and it would make sense
but nah, i think they were never married
it was just, naruto was left with his mothers name so he didnt know about his father being the 4th, and he didnt know about the kyuubi being sealed inside him. but one of those facts he now knows.

im guessing that could be one of the reasons.

Yeah i guess so i said that to but i that was told to me by a Naruto freak so thats why i said it ehhh......Maybe it is true you know how they always talk about the fourths legacy and its Naruto but no one knows that!But still i dont get it to....
