STORY

Centuries ago, in the Homeplane, sorcerers discovered the means to travel to other worlds, called ‘Planes’.

Traveling from Plane to Plane requires the use of a Planesmaster, a highly trained person who’s devoted their life to providing the means to cross the boundaries between the Planes. Without them, there would be no inter-Planar travel at all.

Many of these planes resemble the Homeplane, or environments of the Homeplane. There’s Tartarus, the fiery volcano world, the pillar-world of Hern-Teol, the vast oceans of Acwa-Costoe, to name but a few.

Regardless of terrain, virtually all of these planes were colonized during the Great Migration of the human race. Gradually the discovery of new planes has leveled off to less than a trickle of the former rate.

A few months ago, a Planesmaster by the name of Loenard Valeroi discovered a new world. A dead one. The sky was cloudy and gray, with only a trickle of sunlight coming through. The earth was dead, only a few withered shrubs clung to life. There was no trace of anything living except for empty cities.

The records that survived hinted at the use of a great power source used throughout the Plane, a world resource. Such a power would bring great wealth to the Plane that possessed it.

Loenard joined forces with a rich private merchant by the name of Richese Briers to create teams to explorers to set up a base camp and search for more ruins. Loenard concluded from his research that the secret of the power was contained in three books, and some kind of artifact. The first book was in the city that he had traveled to in his initial journey. The last two and the artifact were apparently in fortresses dotted across the land.

Airships, the lighter than air specialties of Hern-Teol were brought in to search. One of the castles was found. The team that was sent to investigate it never returned. A second expiditon was sent. Only the airship pilot returned, bringing stories of horrible creatures that swarmed around the party members as they approached the book.

Richese decided on a new plan: Send teams of expendable mercenaries and treasure hunters into the castles instead. Bulletins went out across the Planes, seeking mercenaries to apply for "Merchandise Retrieval" with Richese Enterprises.

Universe Information
A Note on Planes:
Players can exercise their creativity and make their own Planes for their character to be from. Just post a paragraph or two summarizing your Plane and it’s culture. Also, if you think your character sounds like it came from a Plane another person posted, I declare a blanket permission to use that as your Plane of Origin, so long as you use it in a respectful manner. Don’t go rewriting the history of a player-created Plane that’s not yours. Also, these planes are not mystical in origin. They can be named after mythical realms(Valhalla, so forth), but they are not magical in any way.

Technology in the RP:
Airships: Airships are lighter than air aircraft, and have become more or less the most popular mode of transportation in the Planes. A large gasbag holds up the gondola of the craft, which is propelled by a propeller system powered from a magic source within the craft. Though you can buy parts of an airship(Ropes, gasbag, gondolas, ect.) in other planes, the artisans of Hern-Teol maintain a tight monopoly on airship engines.

Firearms: Firearms have not quite yet overtaken bows as the preferred form of distance killing, primarily due to deep-rooted traditions and the large amount of skilled archers still alive, but advances have been made. All firearms are flintlocks. Paper cartridges that hold a preset amount of gunpowder have been reliably proven. Reliable breech loading mechanisms have been made, but take more training than muzzle loading and are more complicated to produce, so roughly 80% of all firearms are muzzle-loaders. Rifling has also been discovered.

Magic:
Magic, simply put, only exists in objects imbued with it and Planesmasters. Planesmasters, through a combination of their will and life force, can move objects through the voids between Planes. Talented Planesmasters can either travel with the transported objects to the destination, or just stay in the starting Plane. By using that same force and will, they can imbue objects with magic, but there are few uses for this outside of powering Airships, due to the fact that magically imbued objects can easily release their magic in the form of an explosion. Airship pilots stress the need for a smooth landing. And if the stone you're using is defective... it takes even less force to destablize them. These risks in mind, it's generally a bad idea to use magically imbued things for any task were safter alternatives exist. Aside from Planestravel and airship power, there are no other uses for magic and no one who uses magic for any other purpose.
GM NOTE: No player characters will be allowed as Planesmasters without PMing me beforehand.

Sample Planes:
Gahouren: As far as terrain goes, Gahouren is a flat, plains filled Plane with extremely fertile soil. Professional chefs swear by Gahouren produce. Being primarily farmers, it’s people are well-behaved and kind to strangers, though gangs of bandits become more prevalent the farther you go from the developed cities.
Hern-Teol: Hern-Teol, often called the Pillar-World, can be summarized as ‘vertical.’ Ancient events brought up towering mesas clawing far into the sky. It’s people mostly live in cliff dwellings, saving the flat tops for farmland. Due to its nature, it’s little wonder airships were perfected here. Most of the land is owned by the nobility, who also harshly regulate the trade, which fosters smugglers.
Tartarus: Tartarus is a world dominated by volcanoes and lava flows. A few attempts to settle it failed to find any stable area to build a city. Thusly, there is no such thing as living permanently on Tartarus. People only come for at most a week to collect nutrient-rich ash to export to other Planes.
Acwe-Costoe: Acwe-Costoe’s landmass can be best described as a large island chain. Most people survive a diet of fish and fruit, and selling those fish off-Plane. Almost every native of Acwe-Costoe has sailing experience; most have their own canoe.

Biography: Tyrol led, for the most part, a normal childhood, and hardly dreamed of becoming a fighter. He actually wanted to grow up and become a priest. But, one of the village militia shoved a spear in his hands and told him to fight with it, which Tyrol did well. With a lot of self-training and teaching, Tyrol became a force of nature with his naginata. There were a few large struggles that highlighted his career, but then he sank out of the limelight. The part of his life once filled with battle and glory is starting to fill with drink. He sees this job as his last great achievement before he becomes another drunk old veteran, sitting in a tavern all day and unloading everything about the ‘good old days’ to anyone with ears.
Personality: Pretty rough and quite sarcastic. He can be brutally honest about what he thinks at times, making him somewhat difficult to get along with.

Appearance: Average height and thin. Most of the color in his hair is gone, and what’s left is a light brown in color. His eyes are a nondescript brown, but he wears tinted glasses so often that it’s doubtful you’ll see them.
Weapon 1: A rifle that hangs from the gun rack above the main window of his airship’s cockpit.

Personality: Cormic is a chatterbox. He’s full of stories about his travels, his late wife, children, grandchildren, and everything else he can think of. He’s also very untidy and very unorganized. He has nearly all the controls labeled in his ship, but not all labeled in the same language. He’s far from the courageous, adventurous type.
Biography: Cormic was born on Hern-Teol, and almost immediately joined his family in the black market shipping business, dodging Dragonrider patrols. He’s literally been flying since he was a child. Eventually, he earned enough money to buy the immigration fees for his fiancée, his son, and himself. He established himself in legitimate shipping, and never looked back on Hern-Teol. Time passed, his children grew up and moved out, his wife died peacefully, and he kept working. Known to be one of the best in the business, a representative from Richese’s company approached him about the job.

Personality: Loenard is a flirt, liar procrastinator, gambler, and possesses a knack always delivering enough to save his skin at the last second. Other than that, he’s quite charming.
Biography: Loenard primarily gained entry into the Planesmaster academy through his charm. He passed using all his talents, consistently disappointing annoyed instructors while brightening the days of several of his female classmates. He passed with enough honors to noticed, but not enough to be guaranteed a good job. He was working as a Planesmaster in a back-country, second hand Planestravel Office on Kolob that was frequented by those people who can’t afford to stop in the cities. It was a pitiful job, and Loenard quickly learned how to do just enough work to stay hired. In the free time he took from the office, he accidentally shifted himself to the Lifeless Plane, and began the chain of events that led to the mercenaries being hired.

Plane of birth: Damerung
Damerung is a feudal world. This comes from the conditions of the world, it is harsh ground that has little fertility, even the best of tools make little profit, ironically, not enough profit to afford the best of tools. In order to be able to leave this god-forsaken plane many people took to becoming raiders and pillagers to earn capital. Thus farmers look to battle capable lords to protect them and never dwell far from a castle in which to hide during bandit raids. This has produced a landed aristocracy that can exploit the peasants in return for protection, though it should be noted that peasants are not without there ways of resisting and thus there is a well maintained, though mutually disagreeable, balance of power between aristocrat and peasant. To denote the warrior-nobles that lead this society they all share a single last name, Ritter which means "Knight" (in German). However, recently due to a particularly bad series of lords in one of the more fertile regions of Damerung there was a large scale peasant rebellion (aided by bribed bandits) which displaced many noble familes as well as costing the lives of many peasants

Appearance: Thin blond hair combing over searing blue eyes. He seems, over all, to be somewhat pale but it is readily apparent from his body that he is in now way sickly but definitely morbid looking. He has a large scar running down his chest which is carefully hidden. Normally wears typical Venal Armour, a mix of leather and light plate. Wears a skull charm around his neck His right hand has a large glove/gauntlet which extends half way up his forearm.
Weapon 1: A "Shredder"-style Longsword which is hung vertically on his back. This style longsword, or Shredder, as it is called in some circles, gets its name from the fact that it is so designed to be able to slice through almost every type of armor and shielding that a person can carry into battle. It is single edged with the space behind it swelling with weight so that it is more akin to a falchion then the standard longsword. It also has a bar on the back, used in away not to different from the foregrip on a bardiche, which allows it to be used, with the aid of a second hand, to more easily perform hard parries and even some soft parries. Normally it is incapable of making soft parries due to its immense weight. Andras, since he typically uses the blade one handed, does not use this bar, instead relying on his sword breaker for defense. This weapon is a hold over from the wars of Damerung where many opponents, even militias, would be wearing heavy armor of some description.
[OPTIONAL]Weapon 2: Short sword breaker hung horizontally on his waist. This is an interesting blade which has two edges but a large gap in the center for catching the opponents blade. The blade can then be twisted to disarm or entrap the opponent, leaving them vunerable.
Personality: He perpetually bears a world-weary expression and cynical disposition to go with it. He is a self-diagnosed asexual (though this may merely be a result of a distaste toward sex and debauchery in general), and due to his past tries not to become involved in anything that might be over his head to control. Always aloof and often bitter, he rarely puts up with incompatance for long.
Biography: He grew up amidst a large civil war in Dammerung. He lost his parents early on in his life to unknown circumstances. He eventually was forced to take work as a mercenary in the rebelling army where he managed to keep himself alive but earned no awards for either valor or bravery. Since the war ended though he has been down on his luck and barely able to earn enough food to keep himself alive.

Wyndsil is a mineral rich plane dotted with vast mountain ranges and caves that seem to sink all the way to the center of the earth, hence a vast majority of the citizens are inclined towards more sophisticated technology than just sticks and stones. Citizens take pride in their metal working skills and no finer smiths can be found in any other plane.

Appearance: Tobias is taller than the average person which easily gives him the advantage of seeing farther than most. He has his jet black hair short in order not to impede him when he is out hunting. He has a tatoo designed like a never ending crisscrossing of lines inscribed on his back.

Weapon 1: a rifle slung on his back.

Weapon 2: a sling and a few smooth stones kept in a bag around his waist.

Personality: Tobias is a laconic person, never saying more than what he needs to at any one time. He thinks that he should reserve his judgement until he has all the facts in his possesion.However, this is not to say that there are not times when he lets his mouth chatter idly. A pint of good beer usually sees to that.

Biography: Born and raised to be practical by his parents, Xavier mastered many trades before the age of 18. He alone in their community can boast of being a hunter, a skilled blacksmith and an accomplished airship pilot all in one. However, times had been harsh in Tobias's home town these past few years which is why he signed up for the advertised Mercenary expedition.

Personality: Cou is very cheerful,but at the same time he is dark. He thinking alot about everyone around him but like the fact that he can be trusted. He never holds back information that may help someone but at the sametime he will not talk if the information he has will put the ones around him in danger.
Biography: Growling up ina fishing village helpped Cou with his training. He would walk into the water intel the water reached his waist. He would stand thei intel a wave would come. he would then unshealth his broadsword and cut the wave in half stopping it from crushing his body. The crashing waves and the ruthless seas helpped him train intel his body was strong enough to the point were he could stand still and take a hit from a large wave(Not a tidal wave) and stilll stand. His body is a thing of beauty and everything is fine tuned to the point where Cou cant help but be attractive.

Personality: bit withdraw and does not trust people very fast. can be friendly when she wants to and tends to be suspicious of practicly anything

Biography: it's unclear where blanch came from since tobias found her wounded and abandont. Blanch was raised by several smugglars barely remembering her parents. al she knows is that she was used a payment for smuggles and had been usded voor a variaty of things and most things she does not want to talk about. She is often mistaken for a boy and often does not correct people but she knows tobias his wants and moods as if she is connected with him. her job on the ship is unclear but she obeys tobias to a perhaps unhealthy level.

Personality:Straight to the point, do first think later. but with style and a little arrogance.

Biography: Born and raised on the Homeplane Fi was never much into the Plane traffle at first. But then she met a men she fell in love with who was a mercenary. So she left the homeplane for the first time after joining his group. They where a small group with little succes but enough to keep alive. Fi was hired becouse she was a Airship pilot and they needed one. All went well untill the day Fi confest to the leader her true feelings about him. She got laughed right in the face. This gave her a lesson not to always trust people on there looks. She left the group and started working again as a Pilot at the Homeplane. But everyday missing the suspention of the mercenaries life. So when she saw one of the posters about the new plane and the jobs to do there she sheeted her sword once more and went.

Krin is a green Plane with bunches of plants nearly bursting out of every crack. Most from this plane are gardeners with a penchant for beautiful full flowers. Gardens are found in every yard, and often people are seen tending to old plants or planting news ones.

Weapon 1: A huge wooden bow that looks like a masterpiece in itself (because most Krinners are gardeners they tend to rely on one weapon and one weapon only this is due to the fact that they are all peace-lovers)
Personality: Madiya is a quiet bookish type of woman. She has a vast knowledge of plants and signs of vegetation. She rarely speaks and gives her oppinion flat and clear when she does.
Biography:Madiya grew up around one of the best gardens in Krin. Her parents worked it together and as each child grew to 12 they were given jobs around the garden too. Madiya loved plants but for some reason did not have as much as a green thumb as her siblings. She joined the team simply because there was nothing for her on Krin. At times her extensive knowledge of plants is annoying but she doesn't really seem to care all that much. As a mercenary her fighting skills are more distance, though she can fight just as well with her bare fists if she absolutely has to.

Wears a unique (which seems to be an ancient artefact- due to the dull colouration) silver choker that seems to be missing something in the middle, around her neck with intriqute ancient designs. Wears black fingerless gloves, black ankle boots, black tank top, dark green shorts, utility belt and a black cloak (to hide her weapons..)

Weapon 1: two kodachis (short samurai swords)- both sharing one sheathe, which looks like a short staff. Always sling behind her back

[OPTIONAL]Weapon 2: Small explosives in her utility belt and a dagger in her boot

Personality: Mysterious and anti-social due to her lifestyle. Always tend to keep everything bottled up inside herself. A woman with little words- but always speak whenever neccessary. Willing to team up depending on the situation.

Biography: Lived a life of struggle during her childhood as an orphan who escaped from a tradegy. Has little memories of her past and wishes to seek her lost identity. The only clue to unlock her past is the silver dull choker that she wears around her neck. Is currently in search of the missing item of her choker, hoping that she will gain her loss memory as well as her identity. Has been searching for 5 years working as a mercenary.

A Plain that is very advance in technology compared to many of the other planes. A lot of it's weapons are kept secret from other planes.
Appearance: Medium Length Black Hair with a head band across. He has deep black eyes and a small blunt kunai like object worn as a necklace (not a weapon). About 6 feet high and wears a glove on his left hand, with none on his right.
Weapon 1: A crimson colored katana, with markings across it's blade. (Nah, not magic)
[OPTIONAL]Weapon 2: Left handed glove is imbued with ice based magic
Personality: He has a very gentle personality despite the fact he was raised to be a killer. However, he does lose control in battle at times and becomes blood thirsty. He is very independed, having lived for a few years without help from anyone.
Biography: Growing up, Shinu was taught martial arts from when he was barely able to walk. He belonged to a family of assasins and was destined to become a great assasin. When he was roughly 12 he refused to kill anymore people, his father used force to try and convince him but lost his own life in the process due to the fact that Shinu had surpassed his skill a long time back. Shinu ran away from home after this, wondering the streets of the city like plane of Hrin-Israfel

Appearence:He has short Brown Hair and always wears a jacket because he always feels warm. His body muscles are average built and always excercised. He also has light Green eyes from the side.
Weapon 1: Jin`ki Daggers, Dual. Made mostly just for assanation skills.(No Magic)
[OPTIONAL]Weapon 2: Fire`Flies, litlle small round balls that give off a flare like shine. Makes it easier to commit assasinations with. (Basic Magic)
Personality: Kinda quiet and Lonely, born that way.
Biography: He was born on the Hot and rocky Planes of Tartarus, since that landscape continuously changed, he and his mother had to move in the next few days after birth. Hayu has always love the sense of fire and the spark of it. Soon later in a accident cause by a house Fire, his mother had died leaving him to take care of himself. He soon began to hunt down the one's who might have caused the fire... the goverment.

Appearance:Long to his knees wavy and spikey Scarlet red hair. A Red jacket with a lot of pockets, and a black undershirt. His eyes look as red and as shiny as rubies with dark lines underneath seemingly from no sleep. Red cargo pants and no shoes.

Weapon 1:Ummm...bare with me and use your imagination. Normal hilt right? Ok, then imagine just a bastard sword. Now imagine two..uh...upside down L's on the lower half of the blade, one on each side, their sharp at the ends. Then the same L's but right side up on the upper half of the blade. Now it's color is Orange at the bottom fading to red as it get's to the top. He holds two of them.

Personality:Phyrox is Very cold and mean about things, but it's a little subtle and not so talkitive, but if you piss him off, he can get really loud and mean. HE HATES THE COLD A LOT!!! He hates people that don't understand him the first time he says something. He likes to torture people to get what he wants. Also, deep inside, he is...probably the most loving out of all of my characters.(25 btw)

Biography:He was a normal boy in a family but his dad had a heart attack when Phyrox was 12. Then, when he was 15, high school had way to much pressure on him and he does'nt deal well with pressure. He killed his mom and 2 brothers. Then he fled to another plane.Acwe-Costoe, he needed to make defense for himself so he spent 3 years making the two blades he has now, which...if you read the description right, they're meant for torture and horrible deaths.
