I'm slighty confused about the meaning of meme; but I think you are refering to the thread asking if he truly is dead and why so many people have posted. Probably all suffering from the same illness that many bebop fans have of not being able to accept that there is an end to bebop! Though I understand that the subject has shifted a bit from that topic.

I too have no freaking clue what the hell "meme" means. Someone please please explain it to me.
As far as Spike being dead, yes, he is.
I think they should make a mini series that involves Spike, Vicious, and Julia while they are in the syndicate together.
Although maybe they should leave it alone since that is one cool thing about the flashbacks, you don't get the entirely whole story but you have a good idea about it.

I would just as soon leave it as is, though you could probably very easily sequel it through a mechanism like that which brought Faye Valentine into the future, it would be interesting to see Spike coming out of cold sleep to see Faye and Jet in wheelchairs as old folk.

Ehh, I'm not too sure about that, that would sort of ruin it for me. And I don't think it would be the same if they extended the series (after CB not before) because Spike wouldn't be there.
I believe Spike is dead because Vicious was the only one who could kill him and set him free, as they describe.
But I could still see that thing about Spike coming out of cold sleep as a possibility because you have to remember it is the future, they have lots of medical technology, although much of it remains the same as it is now I am sure, mostly conventional medical knowledge.

A) Meme (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme) definition for those that don't know what a dictionary and/or encyclopedia is.
B) It's not "Spike is Dead" it is Spike Dies (www.spikedies.com). It's a response to all the weeaboos who insist that Spike MUST live because we didn't see a corpse.

Meme is the word developed (I believe by Richard Dawkins) to describe a sort of thought "gene" as in genetics. (gene:genetics::meme:memetics)
As you could follow the propogation, interaction, and evolution of genes in species, Richard Dawkins thought there needed to be a analogous word to follow the propogation, interaction, and evolution of ideas in society.
The OP probably could have used the word "idea" to roughly the same effect.
Spike is dead, end of series, no continuation, no OVA, no nothing!
Just pure anime gold! -_-
People should really try not to tamper with a masterpiece.
Remember it for what it is, and not what it can become. -.-

Spike is dead, end of series, no continuation, no OVA, no nothing!
Yeah, that's really about it.
I think MP2K answered the question well enough.
