I freaking LOVE berserk. I read the manga, and this is basically how I sum it up:

Sometimes I want a story orientated manga, like Monster or BECK.
Sometimes I want a romance intensive manga, like Ichigo 100%
And sometimes...

I just want to see things die! Get killed, maimed, murdered, slaughtered, JAMMED in the arsehole, burned, devoured, raped, pillaged, plundered, and any other act of violance you can think of! To hell with the story! If there's a story, that's a BONUS! And berserk HAS a story, so it's just...awesome!

It's a really good show! The ending wasn't that great, but I still liked it.

For people who have only seen the anime, you need to read the manga. Not trying to sound like a snob, just trying to recomend something great.

It has everything, romance, hardcore butt-kicking, a great story, comedy, terrific art. Everything.

I would normally never pick up something like Berserk, but the bf told me to read it and I love it now. <3<3

Guts is crazy, but I lovers him.

The berserk anime sucks, the manga however is among my favorite series of all time.

The series has very good action and a really dark feel to it and I like that, the only problem I have is the old animation and a few other things but I do like it alot.

How can you not like it?

Man I LOVE Berserk. I started with the game when it came out on the Dreamcast, then I watched the anime (yes, I actually purchased the whole set as it was released one by one in the US). Finally I read the manga. I loved each part that I've experienced.

Berserk does a good job of getting you attached to the characters and then...well, you know. Anyway, this is definitely at the top of my seinen anime list. Love it!

I think it's one of the best series although I've only seen anime, haven't read the manga yet. I love the psychological side of the plot, especially Griffith's personality.
Besides the direction and music are really good. Some scenes are really memorable (f.e. Griffith with the princess standing at the top of the stairs while Guts and Casca watch them from below).
Yeah, deffinitely anime worth watching ;]

I definitely love this series. Both anime and manga.

Gatsu is an amazing character, and as the story goes on, his journey compels me to read more and more. I feel sorry for Caska.

Puck. . . - Pure Pwnage -

All the characters are amazing.

I thought it was great.

However I wanted a lot more out of it. The ending was pretty much a let down - however, I have heard the manga takes off where the Anime left off ( not sure if someone can confirm that )

I wish they would redo the series - and continue it.

Yup, it is one of my favorites.
I havent read the manga yet, but I will do it in near future.
The drawing style was kinda .. mm, old but that is what made this anime so epic I guess.

It's something to be watched by every anime fan. ;)

Love the series greatly, just started the manga recently.

Personally i'm starting to wish it ended right at the end of the anime(of course actual closure)

If you ask me it's starting to run past it's prime now.

I just finished watching Berserk a few weeks ago...and I have to say...this anime is brilliant IMHO...
Apologies in advance for the long post...but I wanted to share a few (a lot of?) thoughts with my fellow berserkers :)

1.
I liked how Gattsu (the spelling of his name is one controversy I don't intend to delve into) is not the typical protagonist who starts off weak and gets stronger over time to eventually get back at the villain who did that terribly bad thing to him in the first three episodes. No Sir! Gattsu is a warrior as fierce and brutal as they come from the get-go (and he does get stronger), swinging away that collossal Dragon-Slayer blade. However, in a masterful balance, he is by no means above our inherent human weaknesses, which brings us to the next point.

2.
Gattsu's greatest problem...he is directionless in the pursuit of his own raison d'etre, while at the same time attempting to drown this burning question in a sea of blood. He plunges head-first into ranks of enemies, or dares the most feared warriors to one-on-one gruesome duels...not necessarily a death-wish, but certainly an understandable action from a man on a journey with no destination. Now, let's be honest...I firmly believe that every single one of us questioned his/her purpose many times and will do just that many times more...it's simply human, hence the brilliance of Berserk...

doesn't seem like I can stop writing about Berserk...I think I'm gonna add to that later :)
