In Episode 14 'Poker Face' who believes Saitos story of how he first met the major?
Myself I think that it is not all real but that certain sections of it could be. My reasoning for this is that the relationship between Motoko, Bato and Ishikawa as presented in the story seems hollow. Also in the film Innocence Aramaki makes a reference to the fact that the major was the only person to meet Bato's standards which suggests that neither one trained the other. I do think the confrontation between Saito and Motoko did happen though it might have different circumstances.

My view now what's yours?

I do believe it happened. Though Saito played it of as though it were a lie or a joke afterwards, it was presented in a similar manner to Motoko's past, and that it was left up to the viewer to determine, or realize, the truth. With Motoko's past it was to make the connection that Motoko was the little girl who was in the plane crash, though the physical resemblance of the cybernetic body of the girl to Motoko was a large hint.

Also, as much as GitS like to play with the viewers mind, and force them to make connections, I don't think that this is the type of series to insert such a story and have it be false...or at least completely false. Especially since they went out of their way to make the viewer question whether or not the story is true. The trick they are playing is that there is no trick, and that they have tricked you into thinking that there is a trick. It's like the card game they were playing. They're bluffing a bluff.

I still don't think so; Batao's speaking and descirption of Motoko in the espisode (something like - she's just called the major) does not sound like Batao and his attitude towards Motoko which he displays is more like a form of worship. I can accept the battle between Motoko and Saito, but not under the conditions thatSaito describes.

indeed i think like you all said that its pretty much how they met and stuff but not under those conditions but again who knows its a pretty messed up show when it comes to the past of the characters but its still very cool

It has to be true. Saito is the major's long range back up. From the major's stand point, it's the one thing she needed posted in the field. Bato is the more vibrant realist of the group. He's the major's action hungry hound. Keep in mind that Arumaki is the one recruiting Section Nine.
