Gonzo's masterpiece,it's a lovely anime and my fav.It's perfect for those who like blood,slaughter,gore and alot of action(like i do).
The tale of Afro Samurai is one of bloody hardship and pain. Along his solitary path of revenge for his murdered father, he sheds no tears and knows no love. Forever chased by powerful enemies in a lawless technology-speckled dystopia, he evades bullets and blade to reach his final prey: a man who will not die. But Afro will reach his quarry - even if it means painting a road of blood and brains from here to the bitter inevitable end.
[If you don't like blood and you're not used to sadism do not watch it ^^]

Oh no, not this. I like samurai stories (Samurai Champloo, Ruroni Kenshin, Samurai Kyo,) but this thing lacked plot. It was just one fight scene after another. This is nothing but a gorefest and even the violence is shallow. The dialouge just ouright is not good. Trust me, there is are a lot better samurai anime series out there.

I loved it. I loved it for the same reasons I loved 300: Awesome visuals, and a lot of violence. Sometimes you don't need a deep plot, so long as it's entertaining. Hell, a lot of series in the shounen genre are "fight to become the strongest/for revenge". This is the same thing, minus the loads of filler, things which barely pass for relevant, annoying plot devices, and pointless characters and their pointless relationships. Really, it just gets to the point faster, without any of the excess crap which can make a shounen series run for 100+ episodes.

Firstly; this was a 5 episode series so lots had to be covered in a short time. Secondly; this had some very strong influence from some of the old school gritty japanimations such as Ninja Scroll abd Kai Dai Maru and the sort which are also very violetn and battle driven in parts. Thirdly; it has to be apreciaed that this was developed mainly for a western audience, which in turn shall only expand the genre to a wider audience and help to dispel that stupid idea the masses have of anime ("isn't that for kids", "anime is sad" etc etc). There is also a live action fil of this to come which again will highlight the anime to more people, and it had an impressive cast of voice actors, i.e Ron Pearlman who just made the whole thing in my opinion

The animation was amazing and the voice acting was some of the best ever, the action was also awesome and the story was actully the weakest part.I actully think as a entire thing put togethor it is really good, now as a anime mini series I don't dig it that much but fooly cooly was short and amazing.

It is more like a movie, the plot could have been more deep, but it was good in my opinion. i cannot say is the best, but to be more a western anime is quite cool. Then the characters were quiet specify in such short time, maybe the music was well directed, and well I liked it, that is alll.

Just like FLCL i was WOWED by this anime ova it IS! amazing!
it has great action, and a great story, and the music goes along very well. I can watch it over and over and over and over agian..
every episode just makes you want to watch more in my opinion

I highly recommend it to anyone who hasnt seen it

I honestly didn't think I'd like it, but I gave it a chance and ended up liking it
The rap influence and Ninja Scroll/Kai Dai Maru could be seen as the inspiration....Pretty good animation and interesting story...it covered so much for it's short running and did a good job at it I think....
