In an episode of BLEACH, Urahara asked Renji to train Chad using his bankai, Renji then asked him why doesnt he do it himself, him being a former captain. Urahara replied "my bankai is not an object that can be used to train or give power". Basing from this statement, i have two guesses as to what kind of bankai Urahara possesses. it is either...
1. his bankai is not an offensive type but a defensive type of bankai that affects only himself, thats why he rarely uses it for training other people. Or...

2.His bankai is too deadly to be used frequently or recklessly. If this is the case, then he is only looking after Chad's safety by refusing to train him using bankai.

Whichever the case, his bankai should be one cool bankai because he is after all, former 12th squad captain and innovator of the 3 day bankai training. Whether he will release his bankai in the upcoming war on karakura town or not is still a qusetion of time and purpose.

What do you think?

I'd go under the assumption that it is too deadly to be used for anything but fighting. If it were defensive, he could have used it for training, even if only to let someone try out new attacks or fighting styles. It would also explain why we haven't seen it thus far, because I'm sure he could have used it to protect Ichigo, Orihime, Sado, and Tatsuki when Yammi and Ulquiorra first came to the the Material World.

Yeah I believe that also. I think if he used his full power he could destroy half the Espada along with Tousen. He could go toe to toe with Gin but after that hes a dead man. He is strong. But i dont believe he is as strong as Issun(If thats who you spell it.).
