I have the entire series on my rather large stack of DVD's with...ambiguous legality...and watched the first two or three episodes. I don't know why I never finished it, actually...

It was love at first sight after seeing the first episode. I can't remember which site was having a sale, but I "treated" myself to a Christmas present and bought the entire set.

Unfortunately, it's sitting on my bookshelf, collecting dust. :p

This series was awesome, definately a different ending than i was expecting but was still good. Anyone seen the actual movie it was based off of?

I have not seen the movie yet that was based of the show, but the show in itself was awsome I loved it. I kinda have a passion for Samurai's so anything Samurai I love. The only thing I saw that had the same name was on HBO and it was called "Samurai 7", its also at the library, guess I gotta watch it

I've never seen the original movie, though I did see the American "remake" called the Magnificent Seven. I really should rent the original, though.

I have to say this was only average in my opinion, probably because I was watching Samurai Champloo at the time aswell, and I'd have to say that Samurai Champloo just shined with it's hip hop/samurai genre.

Samurai 7 is a great series. Seven Samurai is the 1954 movie that it's based on. It's definitely a must-see for those that enjoyed Samurai 7. Anyway, the Anime has some of the best sword/mecha combined action I've ever seen. Kyuzo and Kambei were awesome in their first encounter, which was very reminiscent to that of the movie's. I think it's better than Samurai Champloo.

I like the movie and the anime, even though the movie is older than my mom and dad Hahah 3 times older than me....hahah the movie is very good. The anime is quite different but the end is the same and the name of the characters too, so they really focused on the movie, even thought they did try to make it long, so I liked the anime. The movie is quite old so the effects are quite hard to seem because when they are making the final battle is like at dawn is hard to see, because it is dark... but yeah if you see both the movie and the anime you will see that they really try not to change the basics, but they try to make up to the date, like more scifi than the movie...the movie missed the love part like the anime had some romance the movie discarded the chance.

It was the first Anime I wanted to watch all the episodes, I did, took me awhile to find the site. But once I did, I kept watching it. It was nice, different/sad ending.

Didn't care for it. I wish IFC would stop airing it and show more samurai movies on Saturday mornings instead.

I liked it, but I don't think it's worth a re-watch. I mean, when you already know what'll happen, it stops being cool for some reason. Like I don't wanna watch it again. Maybe it's just me, though.

I also wish they'd have stuck with the original storyline a bit. I mean, the anime story was still cool but if you'd seen the original story, then see how they make it unfold in the anime, fans of the movie would've been like "yeah I remember that scene!" etc, which IMO might've made it cooler.
