Thorny's Extractions

Come on in and relax as you view my graphics. XD -hands all visitors some cookies, some punch, and free pocky- Who doesn't like pocky? XD

Anyways, I wanted to start off my new showcase thread with an extraction I did for a contest over at Misty Ice Design Forums. :D I'm rather proud of it.

Took around ... 1.5 hours to do. The hardest part of the whole extraction process was creating shadows around her. >_> Where she is at, the shadows between her and the tree she is in were indistinguishable, so I had to 'make them' you could say with the pen tool. Hopefully they look right. :ninja: And after that, did some cleaning on the scan because it needed some updating so that the colors would be more vibrant.

Nope. I didn't draw that. >__> I wish I could draw like that. I guess I should say 'Extraction' instead of Render. >_< It's an extraction I did that took some effort for once. I was showing it off. XD

Thanks for you comment Muz .. I think. o_O Because of MAF and their extraction contest, I decided to do another extraction and the theme is CLAMP artwork, which I am starting to have an affinity for. >_> -being converted-

So I found this beautiful scan of Marissa from Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles and decided to extract it. This size presented is suitable for a wallpaper, but I have a much larger version in the "My Extractions" link in my signature. :D Enjoy!

EDIT:
To put some of this to 'render' business to rest. When I first started actually doing sigs and stuff, I started off on ChaosGFX. And that's what they called them there. Extractions were called 'Renders'. So naturally, that's what I learned to call it. >__> so I apologize for the major confusion that is going on in here. The final thing is that I changed my terminology and everything is ok now. :) They are called 'Extractions', I stand corrected.

Ok another extraction to show all of you. ^_^ I know it's nothing you can really comment on, but I like show them because they take so long to do. >_> Original scan is from AnimePaper.net and I had to do some recoloring on this one to make it look right.

I really like this one, how you have cut it so neatly, mine usually have something wrong with them. Ha
And you must take your time and cut them perfectly 'cause these extractions are just splendid.

Haven't updated in quite awhile. O_O Well here is a new extraction I just recently accomplished and this took about ... a hour. The hardest part was some text was on the girl and well, I had to color her with the mouse to make sure you couldn't see it. XD So hopefully I smoothed it out enough and you can't tell. And if you can, you have great eyes. XD Anyways, this scan is from AngelDust! =D

Oookay...

I've been staring at it and I honestly don't think it could get better than that. It's near-perfection to me. The image is crisp and clear, looks like the re-coloring you did was magnificent ^^ (I've seen this image alot, I have an idea of what the original scan must have looked like) Great choice for an image btw, it's very beautiful. Aoi Nanase is my favorite Mangaka for a reason!

Now, I wish I actually did graphic work and could put this extraction to use! Lol but I'm sure anyone who does use this will love you for the wonderful job you did. What still amazes me is that you actually like doing them! Haha I know if it were me I'd tear my hair out, just seems like alot of work ^^;

I tell ya, I think I'm getting a little better when it comes to working with scans because they tend to often be grainy, but with filters and a few tricks up my sleeves, I think the quality has improved a little! Enjoy!

EDIT: I just realized with the dark background of the skin I'm using, there is some white outline on my extractions. lol So before you tell me about them, I already know. XD I'll adjust them soon.

And so, these 3 extractions are men from the game Ar Tonelico by NIS and I loved the artwork, so naturally, I had to extract them.

Two more extractions I have made. They are from Naruto because I was validating images for AG.net galleries and you wouldn't believe the amount of images that get submitted for Naruto. lol But anyways, doing that resparked my love for Naruto so naturally, I had to extract a couple characters!

Itachi and Temari. I know many of your dark loving girls or even boys, ;) , out there love yourselves some Itachi, so I had to extract. And Temari. She's just awesome, no? I like girls with big fans. =D Anyways, heres the extractions. lol They're huge too.>_>
