Which is better the anime or the manga? In my opinion the manga is sort of better, it's a little more exciting and funnier, plus there are more interesting characters and storylines. What do you think?

The anime is really good but I also prefer the manga myself. The story for the manga goes much more in depth than the anime. The anime only ended because it just about caught up to where the manga was so they ended up changing some things. But the way the story continues in the manga makes more sense overall.

I love both of them. But I think the manga is better. I don't really know how to explain why....

Loving all THREE of them I love the manga because there is a lot of detail and you add the voices to the characters. I love the anime because your imagination is brought to life. But, there is a novel that is good as well because you add the atmosphere to the story.

Though the anime has it's great points and is really good on it's own-it's mostly just that. On it's own. It loses sight of the true manga story line somewhere in the middle and goes off on it's own finishing tangent. So for that I love the anime-but I believe the manga is better! It's got more lovable characters a much more twisted and deep story line as well as a mystery that has yet to be solved. It differs from the anime in so many ways, and I think it's better. :D

FMA manga is much better than anime. There're much better charecters in manga and the story is better and more intresting than in anime.

I haven't read the manga myself yet, but I would probably state that the manga would make for a better story-line. This is because it gives a person the chance to imagine there own surroundings, and not the surroundings that another person perceives. If it were another persons views on the story, it could be far different from what the person reading it might be expecting. However, if you are not much of a reader, then the anime is good. Particularly in my case, I don't find the anime all that bad. However I prefer subbed versions over most dubbed versions because it seems to give a better message, and a bigger meaning to the story, for it is in its original format, and not in much of an altered format.

The FMA anime is one of the best animes I've ever seen. The stories awesome, and I think they interpreted it very well in the anime. I've only read a couple chapters of the manga myself, don't have the time for it right now... but from what I've read it was good so far. And if all of you are liking the manga better, it must be pretty amazing, because I find the anime to already be well done.

Well i have only read a few pages of the manga so I am not really sure whitch one is actually better, but I have seen every episode of the anime and I hope to see the movie sometime soon. So because of my lack of knowlage on the manga im gonna have to go with the anime.

I think the manga is in more depth, and is brilliant.
The anime isn't as deep as the manga but I also think they anime is great.
Both the anime and manga are great I think, in different ways.
It was good to see and hear the characters in 'real' life.

Hard to say, I really like both the anime and manga alot. I guess I would also have to say that I enjoy the manga a little more than the anime though I think the anime is great.

I love both, but manga is better as it shows more than the anime, and the anime tend to change the storyline slighty.

Higurashi Kagome
03-25-2007, 07:02 PM
Slightly change? I like the FMA anime, and I *love* the manga...but in this series the Anime went off on a COMPLETELY utterly different tangent than the manga. Only like the first--maybe 5 episodes were the same as in the manga...After that the anime went on it's own story board.

katrina03

ow...so, the mangA is more exciting than the enime itself higurashi kagome?

Higurashi Kagome
03-25-2007, 09:54 PM
I'd definately say so...yes. The anime is good, don't get me wrong, but the manga has so many other different points that is keeping anyone reading it guessing. And it's not finished to boot.

i like both but anime is better:)

That's a really tough question...

I guess I like the Anime because it brings the characters to life, and doesn't ahve that annoying self-rightous prince, Ling, in it. The story in the Anime is overall lovely, one of the best I've seen. Plus, without it, I wouldn't be a Risembool Ranger right now, and Vic Mignogna wouldn't have one the Best Voice Actor Award for FullMetal Alchemist AND DN Angel (and a few others I can't remember). Plus, the theme songs and art kicks ***. ^^;

The Manga's good too, though, because the storyline is more in depth. However, it doesn't give a chance for that hilarious episode between Havoc and Armstrong's sister because... Well... Armstrong's sister would beat the hell out of Havoc if he so much as tapped her on the shoulder. :glare: So... It's s tie for me. Maybe I like the Anime just a bit better.

I like the Manga because the anime ends at the middle of the whole series and the animators just give it their own ending.

Actually ending is done quite good...
For me atleast...I like when all ends in the way you never though it will...
And there's a movie that continues on the end of series...
Anyway, both are good, but I think anime is better...

The Manga pwns the anime. it's way better. the homunculi are more evil, and the plot is much more exciting.

Infinita

I do believe that the anime is good but since they made the movie, it seems unfinished. Hopefully, they'll create the second movie. And the manga, i think is much more interesting than the anime. The homunculi are devising new and wicked plans, Edward still searching for the stone...and then theirs that prince guy.....I don't know but their are some flaws in both. ^^

I really love them both. FMA is one of my favorite anime, it was really well done, and I love the manga, at one point they become like 2 different stories. I'd have to say they're equal in my eyes.

I like the Manga because the anime ends at the middle of the whole series and the animators just give it their own ending.

I don't think the animators are the only one at fault here because Arakawa-sensei was consulted when the anime was produced. So you can say that the anime ending was something that came from the originator of the story herself. I'm sure I've read somewhere in the net about an interview with Arakawa-sensei that said she already has the ending in her head but her only problem was to work her story to that path. Let me remind you that Fullmetal Alchemist was originally a one-shot manga had it not been for the editor of...the magazine(Shounen monthly perhaps?)

But I'd have to say, between the manga and anime, the manga is much preferable as many more things are explained and there are more action and humour in it compared to the anime. The characters are more detailed in the manga and Arakawa-sensei has made it a mission to explain the story and characters more thoroughly. About the reason why they were like that and the history behind it(I forgave Scar because of this).

On a side note, I didn't particularly like how they made Al in the anime. He seemed whiny and so~ angsty. No matter how much suffering he had to endure being cooped up in the armour.

All in all, the fans of Fullmetal Alchemist should give the manga a chance, it definitely would be a wonderful read.

I wish there was some way I can get my hands on the FMA novel.:(

I'd prefer the Manga. Due to that it has more scenes that weren't in the Episodes. -- Owari

This is a really tough one. It isn't clear cut as Naruto or most other Animes. The manga goes off into a deeper plot than the anime, and for that reason when such scientific themes are in placed, I really makes me want to see the MANGA in its true essence in an ANIME. I think that sounds and voice acting also play a big part in an Anime like FMA that the manga cannot give. I know the hardcore Otakus will not agree with me, and will most likely shoot me for this. But the anime was done excellently, and it is my all-time favorite anime. But the manga isn't my alltime favorite manga. But I guess I am going to stick the the fact thatit is frustrating that they didn't use to true manga plotline in the anime. My vote is for the Anime.
