Did anyone watch any of the Samurai X movies about Kenshin's life before he met Kaoru? If anyone has, discuss right here.

I really loved Samurai X. Great OVAs...I thought they were wonderfully done.

Well I've seen it, even the 'Revelations' movies that show Kenshin's life leter on (I think those are the movies... I can't remember)

It's quite interesting and perplexing how Kenshin's pureness was used as a weapon against the enemies of the choushu (sp?)

In the end, Kenshin is one of my greatest role models.

i think it was interesting to see kenshin's motives for not killing again. but, damn, the ending is so sad!

Yeah, the story of Kenshin's life during the Bakumatsu reads out like a Greek tragedy. It seemed like no matter what he tried to do, it was always the wrong thing. No wonder the poor guy's so messed up.

Aye, Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal is one of my favourite anime "movies." Second only to Princess Mononoke to me.

Yo, Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal was one of the craziest movies ever! It showed how Kenshin got his scar in the first place. And Kenshin was the craziest mofo ever before he vowed never to kill again..... that sucked. He was cooler when he was an assassin.

I don't think he was cooler when he was an assassin. He was to perfect with everything, except when he got his scars. Kenshin in the future when he meets Kaoru is awesome because he knows what he's fighting for. In the movies, sometimes, I felt, that he had no idea how he felt himself.

I enjoyed discovering about Himura's past, where he came from and how he came to the part in his life where the series starts. I cried my little heart out finding out what happend at the end of his life, but still I'd rather know than not.

I disagree. How can someone belong as a killer? If you want to change by helping people and never killing again, then you should be given a second chance.

no way he just a killer

no way he just a killer

Explain your point. If you want to be more then just a killer, then you can, but you have to work for it. And I think that he did work for it. If you promise never to kill again and to help people for your entire life, does that make you nothing but a killer? It gives more to your life.

Samurai X is one of the best OVA that I've seen. Also, it's my favorite samurai anime out there.

Very sad movie. I enjoyed it, because you learn why he becomes the hitokiri and how he helps shape the meiji government. You also realize that being a killer is a very hard thing to deal with mentally. I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet!

I liked the movies but then I was surprised at the end because I didn't expect Kenshin to die like a weak old man the way he did. But I guess that's life. TT

I agree with you....no one can expect that due to his history in hi life....

... Kenshin to die like a weak old man the way he did...

Strage, I didn't see him as old at all...to me I felt that only a few years (decade or so) had passed and Kenshin's means to redemption had exposed him to the sick and he had the disease which in turn he'd passed on to karau (his love). Which ended up killing them both...but still an ending I didn't want kenshin to meet or karau for that matter.

I thought Kenshin and Kaoru were both old and have the disease....

I think Kenshin should be a Salesman in a Department store...
*looks around her suspicously*

Well... He's good in convincing people to quit their bad habits

Why not convince people to stop by and buy some suff in Department Store...
*runs away from Kenshin's fans*
*catching her breath*

hehehehe....

A samurai's life is never easy; but somehow, Kenshin got the bad deal. I was sad with the ending, but looking back, it was ideal and in tune with the overall theme of a samurai's life.

About what happened BEFORE he met Kaoru.

I mean geez, guys, at least put the spoilers in the spoiler tags... some people haven't seen the movie(s)/ova(s) about what happens after the series. Like me, for example.

I loved Trust and Betrayal, art was beautiful and I even thought the english dubbing was good. It was a sad ending, but because of what happened Kenshi became the Samurai he choose to be, a wanderer who protects people. But yeah, I cried a lot <<;
Best movie/ova I've ever seen.

I never liked Tomoe to begin with. When she died, I didn't feel sad because I knew about Kaoru. It was sadder when Kenshin died.

I found Tomoe's death sad in terms of what Himura and she could have had, had she lived. For the woman herself I didn't feel sad, but for Himura I did.

<< Man your battle-stations! Minor spoilers!

I agree with that. I never truly found myself 'liking' Tomoe. I just found her character.....kind of dull. Her death wasn't the 'OMGWTF MY HEARTS RIPPING IN TWO' that I experienced at the end of Reflections with Kenshin's death. While in the close to T&B was sorrowful, that was only thanks in part to Kenshin, and my pity for him. The guy...truly....can never catch a break.

Yes yes exactly. Tomoe died and it wasn't sad or anything. I felt sorta bad for Enishi because his sister died but I was just like, yay, now time to watch Reflections because this is over.

I never funny understood why Tomoe leaped in between them in SX... it wasn't very clear. I think the manga executed that scene a whole lot better. Also, I felt that SX didn't do Tomoe's character justice. Plus, Kenshin was out of character. I understand wanting to give the film a serious tone, but this can be achieved without pooping all over the original story.

I still love the movie due to the awesome fight scenes and beautiful art.

Yes, true true. Tomoe was not very liked because her character was not portrayed well. And I've not read the manga so I wouldn't know. But the art was good and the fight scenes, I liked them a lot.
