I have read some of Lone Wolf and Cub. But I mostly read a lot of Blade of the Immortal. I say that mangas with historical events in it is pretty cool. It can teach you a lot about what happened back then, but just without the fictional plots and characters.
I'm a major history buff, so I find the historical aspects of those types of manga to be rather interesting. They add a new dimension to a story that can make it all the more intriguing. Although they don't have to be historical for me to enjoy them.
Personally my favourite historical manga/anime (which isn't feudal) is probally Rose of Versailles.

You see? someone else knows of "The Rose of Versilles"/ "Versilles no Bara"!
Anyway, I enjoyed the "Lone Wolf and Cub" movies! But I haven't read the manga.

I want to read Lone Wolf and Cub. I heard that and Samurai Executioner were really good. I've seen them around and man, those are long series. Has anyone heard of Otogi Zoshi? I heard that was historical fiction. I have the first volume of the Manga, which I think is the prelude to the Anime series. It's really good.
