Zatch Bell (Koniji No Gash Bell)

I recently have been watching Zatch Bell (www.zatch-bell.com), and was wondering if anyone else here was interested in it? It was originally called Koniji no Gash Bell, no idea why they changed it to zatch; it's a strange, sometimes perverted series about demon-children running around killing things, much like my house ^^. Seems like it might die from the publicity, though.

Anyone think anything about it? is it stupid, wonderful, silly, interesting, thoughtful or mindless?

I watched it, and made a review on the review forum ^^ Tell me if you like it.

But for Zatch Bell, I found it very interesting because of the story and spells were not making all sense, and now later its more complicated and even harder to understand but if you try you can get it ^^. Why did they change the name?

Zatchbell is one of the funniest shows on toonami these days. 8:30 on saturdays is when it shows, i strongly suggest you guys check this show out, but keep in mind your really got to give it a try. A VERY entertaining series.

Yah, the first couple of episodes didn't really interest me that much, but they got better. I just wish they showed it more than once a week :P Ah well, I suppose that would make it harder for me to see them, what with school and such.

Interesting - most of the posts have been positive. From the animation style and the fact that it's less serious than many anime, I expected it not to be taken so well. I'm pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, I really like seeing some comedy. Funny and cute and a little mean. I like Zatch. I don't think the graphics are bad, I like the colors.

I didn't knowtice that until u stated it, but ya they definatly utilize colors well. ya as colors go for this, zatch is prety good, blue and golden yellow, always a winning pair :D i mean even this site used the blue an yellow.

Yeah,I like the show.I think they have a card game out for it.Not sure if that was the greatest buisness decision or not.

Meh. You have a point there, Card games sometimes do ruin a show just by making it particularly commercialized, but I think that ZB's CCG was actually fairly well-thought-out, and fits into the universe. With Yu-Gi-Oh CCG's or Pokemon CCG's, the game was far enough from the game and didn't have enough integrity (especially once they really took off) to keep the show useful and interesting.

Zatch Bell, on the other hand, has its lore emphasized instead of randomly added to by the CCG - Let's just hope it stays that way.

I recently picked up the card gama and its not bad. it acctually uses this thing called stratagy, which might be a new one for card games. the thing is that you get a little book and you can only stick like 30 cards in it. as the game goes on you turn pages, one e or more every turn to get "mana" to cast spells. also if someone attacks you you have to turn more pagesif you run out of pages befor your opponent you lose. its a pretty simple game really. but its cool cuz you acctulally have to think and plan ahead rather than jam as many good cards into your "deck" as posible. really quite good acctually

...Sounds easy to abuse, honestly. Think about MTG: How would that work if you put a black-lotus equivalent at the top of your deck, followed by a few really powerful haste cards?

Hehe, I hear that a lot. Brago has the 'cool' look down, with his angry eyes and calm demeanor. Reminds me some of Gaara, really. Still, I prefer (personally) Paco Folgore, because he's funny.

If you're asking whether there's comedy in it (and that's what you said, just to reassure you), you're correct. It's situational comedy, though, which is kinda nice. A change from puns or toilet humor.

I would have to say one of the best qualities of the show is that the focus is not necessarily on being stronger than everyone else, just beating them, be it with strength of arms, tactics, or guile. This makes it a bit more true to life, and a little less of a cold war era mentality. Its refreshing.

What I was saying is that all of that Is Specifically What Zatch and Kiyo - in fact, all of the mamodos - tend to act like when they're battling, and exactly that - it's an antithesis to what Zatch and Kiyo are trying to do - but they're nevertheless forced to do it to keep up.

Tactics are a good thing to teach the audience. Tactics are useful, its basically just setting attainable goals and trying to find creative ways to reach that objective. It’s a lost art these days. Also more people should read "The Art of War" by SunTzu. It’s an excellent way to familiarize yourself with strategy and deception. Which is all that tactics are anyway.

"The art of war", while an admirable *introduction* into tactics, has lost quite a bit of its hold on modern strategy because of the various ways people have of killing each other nowadays. For ZB... I don't think it's as applicable either. I think the most valuable motto to have when dealing with tactical stuff is to always be flexible.

I think I'm gonna get the DVD when it comes out cause I missed a view episodes too. I think that it is a well written show. Hoping there will bee unedited versions on the DVD. I'm not sure this show is really just for kids because of the boobie humor and content.

They're up to like episode 30 and I missed so much that I'm sure the DVD won't have anything I've seen on it, since it's the first episodes, right? I'm gonna get it definitely. I got the game, been playing as Folgore, which is so fun. Yay! Zatch is on tomorrow!

The games got like 18 characters. Some aren't even on the tv series yet. I hope the come out with a psp version.

Speaking of the show, did anyone see the episode that aired last Saturday? I think it was called "Sunset soaked in tears" or something. One of the saddest episodes I've seen, it totally made me cry! Total cliffhanger though! I wonder how Zatch and Kiyo will ever defeat Greasor (sp?) now that he's gigantic. My theory is that Kiyo will send Zatch at him to distract him while Shion goes for the magic mirror. What about you? (No spoilers from people who already know, please)

Love Konjiki no Gash Bell, hate Zatch Bell. I mean, name changes, edits, dialogue changes, etc. Tio becomes Tia? Gash becomes Zatch? Then there is giving Zeon (or Zaon, not sure of spelling, but the Gash look-alike) the same voice as Zatch in the dub? Pathetic. Sherry and Dyufo are the only worth-while book owners I have seen.
