My primary problem with this anime, besides the rabid gullible sheep fanbase, is that pretty much ALL of the characters are highly unlikable. Inconsiderate, annoying, whiny, angsty, completely idiotic, and/or completely stereotypical...the characters seem to be written to be hated. Except Ayanami Rei, but she of course has no real personality to speak of. But if I had to pick ONE to hate...it's Shinji, mostly because despite his weakness, cowardess, whining, and self loathing/pitying, he constantly gets compared to Amuro from Gundam and Fei Fong Wong from Xenogears.

I did not like any of the characters. I found them to be very unrealistic. Very over analysed. During a battle for your life your not gonna be thinking about why your father sent you away or why your mom died. Your going to fight for your life. It seems like they chose the most mentally unstable people to pilot these things. Don't they do background checks?
I wouldn't want one of these kids using my stove much less piloting giant robots with massive destructive power. Idiots.

I have only seen a total of 2 episodes (if you count scenes from "Death and Rebirth") but my least favorite character is the older woman who likes Shinji (Misato I think), or Shinji (wimpy looking/sounding punk).

I just wanan say that u have to admit the Asuka at the biggining was funny if not a little *****y. How ever the whole series whent down the tube after the floaty ball angle (I can't remeber wich number that was... was the one where Sinji sunk into the ground.) thats when Askue started suking balls at being a pilot. And Sinji was just stupid from the biggining the only time I liked him in the whole series is the alternate univers episode. I mean the dude couldn't even git some with a chick he was living with. Ya they had that one kiss but he turned 5 diffrent colers. What the hell?
Misato was awsome. Pretty much the whole series, her and that heart shaped hinnie of hers. Pluse she was the owner of my personal favorite character PEN PEN. Pan Pen was kick ars. He lived in a freezer and chaused Sinji to run out of a bathroom naked (toothpicks hehe).

I think my favorite part of the whole series was when everyone DIED. I Laughed. Then Sinji became god and brought everyone back. What a basterd (still hate that guy):mad:

Evangelion is a very complicated anime, and so are all of the characters in my opinion. I guess the one i hate, but i misunderstand would be shinji because of his characteristics. He has mental issues relating to his father, he is a coward and has no confidence in himself. My favorite character would be Rei, she's cute but she creaps me out because i knew a girl who looked a little like her in real life and the girl had no personality, much like rei.

I like all the characters. Some are annoying at times but hell, what person isn't? Asuka showed courage in the last part and risked her life. I like shinji, it doesn't bother me I mean who wouldn't? He was forced to go out and risk his life killing 'angels' at the tender age of 14! He reminds me of Kira from Gundam seed...

I don't hate any of the characters, per se, but Asuka can be wayyy too annoying, a lot of the times. I find myself sometimes jumping up and saying, "stop whining and b%$&!ing all the time! Yeesh!"

If Asuka wasn't so hot and pretty, I'd probably hate her, with an extreme passion. :badrazz:

Now that I think of it, Shinji gets on my nerves. So I'd hate him, before Asuka.

Least favorite character has got to be Shinji. He's a whiney prick who doesn't care about anyone but at the same time cares about rei. He has little self esteem no matter what he does, he just sickens me to NO end. All he does is mope around ALL day long, then he gets in the eva and yells at it to move and then rei comes and saves his ***. People hate Shinji because he is a whiny little punk. Everyone has bad stuff happen to them from what I can tell, and they don't act so wimpy about everything. I mean, every time Shinji opens his mouth he is whining about something (his voice doesn't help the matter). He is definitely my least favorite character in a show I don't care for. Misato is a close second though.
