shinju, please don't use one-word posts, especially if all they are comprised of are words like the one you just used.

All of the above and more besides. These are the only thigns I could think of as well and instead of repeating them, I think I'll stick with the All Of The Above response :)

I think it's the fact that as we haven't gotten there yet...anything is possible.
Explosions, the idea of people flying amongst the stars in an epic battle.

I like my space anime to be as realistic as possible; I'm not too terribly picky about that though. Even though there is no sound in space, a bunch of explosions are cool.

And lotsa mechas. I <3 mechas. ^__^

I think there cool because most of the time they are very far in the future and we love the future.

I think it's just the feeling of a futuristic environment that makes them so good. It kinda makes u wonder if maybe it could happen in real life.

Well, it helps when there's a really good story and the characters are interesting.

But who cares about that.

i agree with her the idea of a new world or new riases and new tech is allways on the mind but some times ppl forget them thats why manga is so good (most of it anyway) becuz it reopens the mind to those possoblity's it intreegs the mind into searching for the the all powerfull anser to ''who am i how was i made and wat was i made for'' that is why manga is so good

This is the recipe for a great science anime/manga

1/2 a cup of Good non-repeatitive plot
2 tablespoons of Unforgetable unique characters
1 teaspoon of a futuristic setting
4 cups of detaled spaceships, weapons, and stuff like that
1/5 a teaspoon of a non-crappy ending that doesn't leave people going " What...the heck?"
1/3 a tablespoon of Unusual creatures (aliens, monsters, etc.)
and of course a pinch of some stuff getting blown up and interesting fight scenes
Mix it all together and cook for 26-50 episodes/chapters and you have a kick-butt space anime/manga

well put!

more room for originality! or to take old ideas and remake them...

but now... with the growing abundance of space animes... they are becoming more and more alike... im still waiting for another good anime like cowboy bebop or outlaw star...
