The best music has to be numb but i can't decide about the worst.

Linkin Park... an O.K band. Best song would probably be "Breaking The Habit" or "In The End"...

The only thing I don't like about them is that the lead singer constantly changes his look. Every video they make, I find myself wondering.. "Who the hell is that guy singing? Ha, he actually thinks he's the Lead Singer!... It.. it can't be Chester, can it?.."

I think that the best song is
Crawling(reanimation) Featuring the lead singer of Staind (one of my favorite bands)
and the worst is
"Cure For The Itch"

Oh I really like Linkin Park, Numb and In the End are my favorites. I really haven't heard any new songs, except for that one remix with Jay-Z. I'm sorry, but in my opinion, it sucked. I'm not a big fan of rap at all.

Wow... now there`s a band I haven`t listened to in a very long time.
See, their essence is good, and their rythms are very catchy..
But once you start to explore other branches in rock, they sort of fade away.

To all hardcore linkin park fans : I say you have good taste.

I think that there best song is

"My December"

Its a painfully cold song that seems to ask to give hope but it points out what is missing.

animelovingjock
06-03-2005, 10:45 AM
like i said I don't dislike them but I don't like them. long live Toby Kieth!!!! and Oklahoma!!!! and country music!!!!

DarkPrinceBman
06-03-2005, 10:48 AM
Another song I like is

"Place For My Head"

Really the other songs like "In The End" & "Breaking The Habbit" dont carry as much meaning as there other songs. There mainly liked for there tune, melody, but I look for poetry.

~DizzyElf~
06-03-2005, 10:54 AM
DarkPrinceBMan u have a point- and animelovingjock I'm not dissing u- I like certain music and u like other stuff- I'm not hatin gu for ur opinion

No but I love old school

Pearl Jam
Slayer
Van Halen
ACDC
Led Zeplin
and so on
but to stay on topic
Linkin Park has been changing its image alittle I think. From an underground band that was all about the music to this more poppish band.

~DizzyElf~
06-03-2005, 11:14 AM

I hate that song Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy! Their voices aren't different! One has a deep voice and the other has a soft one that's high *Kinda* and Green Day does American Idiot- And wat about the rock in the 80's and etc. Someone has to like that!?

~DizzyElf~
06-10-2005, 02:48 PM
It's ok- but stick to the subject Linkin Park. Why did they name their self Linkin Park?

animelovingjock
06-10-2005, 03:09 PM
because they are gay. and I can prove this. It is factual evidence that abraham lincon was gay. Well a group of gay rights people named this park lincon park after him. And the band lincon park started just down the road from this gay park. Inturn naming themselves after this park made them all gay!!! And that my thery on how shrimp were the first to make a computer. wait what was I talking about?

~DizzyElf~
06-10-2005, 03:11 PM

07-10-2005, 03:06 PM
there cant be a worst song to linkin park all of there songs are good, well maybe except for track 12 on meteora, its the song with no lyrics you could call that the worst

Session? No, I think that's not a bad song. I think the dummer just wanted to release a Drum n Bass song, that's all.

also, Secret has no lyrics (it's unreleased)

as for the band, every song I've heard I can listen to. the first song I remember hearing is 'crawling' on a Kerrang CD and I loved it. I heard In The End half a year afterwards, and PPrkut on a flash site (took me three years to find out the song's name... lol.) since then I dled a hell bunch of their songs and I even bought a pair of jeans with a Linkin Park logo

the reason why I probably like them is easy - rock music with hip-hop lyrics. I don't know why but I like that combination.

edit

I have not listed to any of the songs from Collision Course. I think that album sucks majorly. Linkin Park didn't need to sdtoop to the level of a Jay-Z collaboration. anyone says they like that must really be hardcore Jay-Z fans because I don't like him at all.

07-10-2005, 04:50 PM
They have some pretty good stuff, I love it all except the stuff they're singing with rappers.I know, I love Linkin Park songs too, but I just can't stand the rapping part. ;) It's to complicated, because I don't even know if Linkin Park is in the rap section or the rock section because it has both genre. But of course, it's in the rock section. YAY!!! :D And just to go alittle further, Linkin Park with Jay-Z, NO! They don't match. And I even hate it more, so, enough with the rapping and go with the rock songs already.

:band2: :) ROCK ON!!!! :) :band2:

First of all.......I can't believe I havne't posted in here yet. >.< Impossible!

Anyway, I think the worst songs of Linkin Park are the ones that they did with Jay-Z. It just didn't really fit right, however, they were still great to some magnitude.
I think the best songs of theirs are usually the ones that are on the radio waves. A lot of the songs can't be beaten or are hard to beat.
Numb was a killer, 'cause it had so much emotion and there was a really clear message along with other songs. December was also a great one. I think there is no best song from Linkin Park since a lot of them come close.

I love Numb. I don't understand how. Maybe it's due to the fact some things I've gone through... well, it's like you can relate to some of their songs. that's what I like about em.

and yeah. the Jay-Z ones suck compared to their solo stuff, don't they?

Linkin Park... an O.K band. Best song would probably be "Breaking The Habit" or "In The End"...

The only thing I don't like about them is that the lead singer constantly changes his look. Every video they make, I find myself wondering.. "Who the hell is that guy singing? Ha, he actually thinks he's the Lead Singer!... It.. it can't be Chester, can it?.."Yes it is Chester. You could see the band's people in the back of the lyric book on the last page of Meteora.

I

HATE

LP!

nu metal? PLease, it's total crap. A lead singer who can't sing, a rapper who can't rap, and a guitar player who can't play. And if they even have a bassist I can't tell, because he's either not playing, or turned down all the way. Combining rap with a actual good genre (metal) was a BAD BAD BAD idea.

My opinion has changed. I don't like Linkin Park anymore. Simple as that.
Now I think their best song would be "Lying From You".

I used to like LP a bit. Only a handful of songs. I kinda grew out of them, i started to realize every song sounds the same. BTW, In The End is the worst song period.

out there, but that's my opinion. I've grown up loving their music since
I was a kid and I won't back out now!! The only song that sucked was
Easier to Run. What can I say, Im just another hardcore fan.

Linkin' Park can rock the stage. And so can Green Day and Avenged Sevenfold! I love it when Linkin' Park's Chester Bennington screams! And I like the rapper, Mike Shinoda. Lying My Way From You and In The End are my favorites. Also Numb and Some of the songs in Collusion Course.

It's easy for me to say linkin park sucks, you know what linkin park is? It's a band for people who's taste in music hasn't developed yet, they hear linkin parks catchy distorted riffs and pseudo-meaningful lyrics and are drawn to it. They don't listen to people like me when they say they suck which, in terms of metal, they do. They suck ALOT in terms of metal. But The only metal you know is LP and other mainstream bands like that, same goes for bands like Greenday and the used, they suck but people don't know because they don't listen to anything else. If you want some metal that has some FEELING I have some bands/People:

Yngwie J Malmsteen
Steve Vai
Joe Satriani
Dream Theatre (like linkin park, just without the sucky rap and more complicated riffs and musicians with TALENT...so I guess they're really not like LP.)
Ozzy (randy rhoads days, Blizzard of Oz, Diary of a Madman)
Cacaphony
Jason Becker
Van Halen
David Lee Roth
Black Label Society
Pantera

Well, I shouldn't speak for Green Day since I've barely heard it, but I would say it's punk-metal. Linkin Park on the other hand is nu-metal. Really lousy metal I gotta say. Chester has raspy vocals that I don't like, the guitarists have nothing near advanced riffs, and as Masali said somewhere, they are hiding the bass (and I like bass loud and clear).

I enjoyed the first album until my taste got a bit developed but they still have some good songs. I don't mind the album with Jay-Z (mainly because Jay-Z is a fairly good rapper). The songs I like in somewhat way is:
Papercut
Crawling
Faint

But hey, if u wanna like LP it's none of my business! I can only say that there is music out there that is more worthy of your ears in my opinion.

They're not, but If I classified Greenday and Linkin Park honestly I would probably get banned...LOL. To each his own. But there are some Linkin Park & Greenday songs I like. Being that (1) I don't consider myself a musician and (2) that is not my personal favorite genre of music, I am not gonna be as selective as you in what I think is good rock/metal/new metal/punk/bang your head against a wall music as you are.
One of the main reasons I liked some of their songs is because at the time it was different and had an interesting sound. They are obviously not the greatest musicians. I don't think Chester is a very good singer (actually he seems to just screem a lot) and Mike in my opinion is a very-sub par rapper (good luck with that solo album, buddy). But the fact that they kinda tried to go "Run DMC/Aerosmith & mix the two with a lot of turntable stuff was interesting.

comment about that, but they really don't suck THAT much, and I don't
find them being related to Green Day at all.
Yea, I agree with Uchiha Mugetsu though, that new solo album with Mike

I could've sword I posted this...but I guess I didn't.

I am a musician, I've been playing guitar for about 1 3/4 years, and from a music standpoint they suck. When I hear a band and learn how to play their stuff I want to ENJOY playing it. Linkin park is UN-O-RIGINAL, their stuff is so plan and I derive no fun from playing it. Songs with interesting riffs and solos attract my attention and are fun as HELL, like Mr. Crowley, a simple, original, and (at the solo) highly technical. Linkin park has ONE interesting song...wait...nvm, wrong band. So they have NO interesting songs. And then I see how much hype they get, for nothing. They are virtually talentless, the guitarist probably had a year of lessons you know what? after a year, you can make power chords and play simple solos and scales if you play it like he does. If you have a buring passion for guitar and a huge strive to get better, you can teach yourself Randy Rhoads in a matter of weeks/months. He is the first, he just plays what he can and what appeals to young kids, and impressionable teens. After i learn a linkin park song out of curiousity...Im bored. it's boring and unoriginal. they fail as musicians.

Chester Bennington

Chester Charles Bennington a.k.a "Chazy Chaz" (born March 20, 1976) is the vocalist and co-writer of the band Linkin Park (and the oldest member) and former vocalist and writer of Grey Daze. He also has a side-project called Snow White Tan. When he was younger he practiced singing every day until his lungs and throat were sore to get the voice that he has now. He is notable for producing loud, high-pitched and often screamed vocals.

Early life & Grey Daze

Chester was born March 20, 1976 and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. Chester's first instrument was the piano. While Chester was growing up he was in a number of bands. He played various instruments, but mainly he was a vocalist. He never settled in a full time band until 1992, when he joined Grey Daze. The band disbanded in 1997 and he moved on to Linkin Park.

Chester had a rather unpleasant life right through adolescence. He was sexually abused as a child, by a close family friend. A few of his friends committed suicide, and one of his friends died in a freak skateboarding accident down a hill.

Bennington's parents divorced in 1987, leaving him with his two half sisters and half brother. Chester was the youngest of four children at 11 years old, and he stayed with his father who was a police officer and detective. His brother introduced him to bands like Loverboy, Foreigner and Rush which he claimed as his influences. Also Chester's brother taught him to sing 'Hot Blooded' at the age of 2 while learning to talk and taped him when he was doing it. This tape is still somewhere but he says that it's lost. He told a kid about this because he had nothing clever to say and is amazed that everyone around the world now knows about it and everyone asks about it.

Before his parents parted, the family frequently moved around Arizona, from cities such as Scottsdale, Tolleson, Tempe, and many more. "I was an athletic kid but I just stopped caring about it, and I stopped doing well in school," Chester states in a Kerrang! article. "I started smoking weed and going to parties. I think I was 11 when I started smoking pot." Chester attended Centennial High School, Greenway High School, and later graduated from Washington High School. Chester said that while he was in high school he was bullied and he described himself as a geek. When Chester was younger he had a day job working as a coffee barista. Chester worked at Bean Tree Coffee House and said it was that what kept him going, and that coffee houses are very understanding and this was the base of his inspiration. Through his late teens and early twenties Chester battled an addiction to crystal meth, LSD, and cocaine; however, he managed to overcome his addictions and is now clean. Bennington had witnessed his friend's home get raided by a 'Mexican Mafia' and another friend leaving the state because of owed money for drug dealers.

Bennington was formerly the lead vocalist in a band called Grey Daze through 1993 to 1998 who were popular across Arizona and the United States but didn't achieve global status. Chester thought he was not getting enough credit for his writing and had mutual disagreements with other band members so he left the band. While with Grey Daze, Chester recorded two albums, "Wake Me" in 1994 and "...no sun today" in 1997 along with one demo tape "Sean Dowdell and his Friends" in 1993 while the band was under the same name. After Chester left, they split up and guitarist, Sean Dowdell joined a new band with a new female singer, Jodi Wendt, called Waterface and have recorded one album, "Seven Days".

He met his wife, Samantha, while working at Burger King. Chester worked part time so he could practice with Grey Daze in the evening. At this point he was so poor he couldn't afford a car or even a bike so he got around on a skateboard. They were married on October 31, 1996, at the age of 20, and because he was too poor to afford an actual wedding or engagement ring, the two of them have rings tattooed on their ring fingers. The couple were in the local real estate market and to learn more about the business world, Chester would sneak into classes at Arizona State University without paying the required tuition fees (unlike the rest of Linkin Park, Bennington doesn't have a college diploma.) They have one child, a boy named Draven Sebastian Bennington, born April 19, 2002 at 1 p.m. as mentioned on linkinpark.com : "Chester and Samantha had their son on April 19th, 2002 at 1PM. He's happy, healthy, and cute as can be. The baby and parents are doing great. They thank you for being so interested and they love you guys! The whole family will be on the road during the next Linkin tour!". Draven was supposedly named after a character in the movie "The Crow". On May 2, 2005 the couple divorced after eight years of marriage. Samantha has been granted full custodial rights of their child, while Chester, after months of battling, has joint custody. On December 31, 2005, Chester married his 29-year-old girlfriend Talinda Bentley, who posed for Playboy during her college years in California Institute of Technology. Bennington's wife, Talinda, gave birth in Los Angeles on Thursday March 16, 2006, to a 9-pound, 3-ounce boy named Tyler Lee, according to a statement from their publicist. This statement also said that Chester has a ten year old son named Jaime, though there is speculation as to whether he is Chester's biological son or stepson.

Chester was going to reunite with Grey Daze for one last performance to raise some money to help the former Grey Daze member Bobby Benish who has a brain tumor at the Dodge Theatre in Arizona along with bands Phunk Junkeez, Pokerface and Gift. But, unfortunately Chester had to postpone the performance due to Linkin Park's recording schedule while they were working on Meteora. Since then Bobby Benish has died due to his brain tumor.

In 1995, Bennington and former Grey Daze member Sean Dowdell founded Club Tattoo, a tattoo parlor, in Phoenix, Arizona. They now have full partnership and 3 chain locations in Arizona. Many celebrities, such as Hoobastank, David Boston from the Arizona Cardinals, and Chester himself have gotten their tattoos done there.

Linkin Park and other projects

In 1998 Linkin Park (then called Xero) advertised for a vocalist due to trouble with getting signed. A firm that were mutual friends with Chester told Xero that Chester Bennington would be good for the job. They sent Chester a demo and asked Chester to sing to it. Within three days, one of which was his birthday (apparently he didn't show up for his birthday party because he was working on the demo) he had recorded the demo and played it to Xero over the phone; they were blown away and asked Chester to fly to Los Angeles from Phoenix to audition. At the audition, several other potential vocalists vying for the position simply left once they heard Bennington sing. One auditioner commented to the band that they'd have to be crazy not to pick him (Chester). Xero then changed their name to Hybrid Theory and recorded the Hybrid Theory EP which included the songs "Carousel", "Technique", "Step Up", "And One", "High Voltage" and "Part Of Me". They attracted some attention from some record labels and eventually decided to sign to Warner Brothers Records.

Due to a copyright issue with the British group Hybrid they had to change their name. Chester suggested Linkin Park because after recording sessions Chester would drive past Lincoln Park in Santa Monica. They recorded their debut album, Hybrid Theory through 1999-2000 and it was released on October 24, 2000. It produced hits like In The End and Crawling. Hybrid Theory has since sold over 19 million copies around the world. Then in 2002 Linkin Park released the remix album Reanimation, featuring remixes from Hybrid Theory. Chester and Linkin Park then recorded their next album Meteora featuring hits like Somewhere I Belong and Numb. They released the live album Live in Texas and the "mash-up" album with Jay-Z, Collision Course. His co-writer and fellow band member Mike Shinoda wrote a song, which until recently could not be performed live. The song, called "Breaking the Habit," brought back memories from the past which in many cases reduced Bennington to tears. There is much speculation behind the meaning of the song, including Chester's drug addiction and childhood issues. The song took Mike Shinoda six years to write and was released a single in June 2004 and was included on the Meteora album. Linkin Park has a new record coming out in late summer (July to September), the record is going under the working title of YunGodtre and Chester has described it as "dark, poppy and melodic" different from their other albums which fused Hard Rock and Hip hop.

Bennington seems to have rather bad luck with getting sick on tour. On 8/8/01 during Ozzfest he was bitten by a recluse spider at a hotel in the Boston area. A portion of Bennington's leg swelled and he ran a fever, but he finished the whole tour. Most people require hospitalization after a recluse spider bite. Bennington continues to struggle with a hiatal hernia, an ailment that forced LP to cancel their show in Evansville, Indiana. (April 11, 2003). In 2003, LP was forced to cancel their European tour in June due to a viral infection Chester developed. He was sent to intensive care at LA's Cedars-Sinai Medical Center when he lost feeling in his body and collapsed. Bennington had been wearing glasses most of his life. During live shows, he would remove them, although claiming he couldn't even see the front row of the audience without them. Then in March 2004, he went through laser eye surgery and no longer wears his signature thick-rimmed glasses. A few days before performing at the second Club Tattoo Anniversary Party in April 22, 2006, Bennington got his arm stitched, which was cut after falling through a window of his father's house. He was drunk and had lost the key to the house. The next day, he had an anxiety attack, causing him to have a seizure and arm spasms.

In 2007 Chester is set to release a solo album under the name Snow White Tan, produced by Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck of Orgy. There are currently two confirmed tracks: 'The Morning After' and 'Walking In Circles'. 'Let Down' is also rumoured to appear on the album. Chester will sing, play guitar, play keyboard and does the programming on the record. Influences for the album include The Cure, Depeche Mode, and Bauhaus, and Chester has described it as "fuckin' driving beats and walls of guitars." One of his friends also likened one track to T-Rex. The album is due for release sometime in 2007, after Linkin Park's new record. Chester is also playing with "Bucket Of Weenies" a small garage band who perform cover songs, Bucket of Weenies have covered such songs as Snow White Tan's The Morning After. Also, Chester recently played with Mötley Crüe at ReAct Now: Music & Relief, a Hurricane Katrina relief concert, helping them onstage performing 'Home Sweet Home'. It was that same show he performed the unreleased song 'Let Down' with Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck.

Bennington had also designed some clothing for a company called Replicant, owned by Korn's Head and Orgy's Ryan Shuck.

Tattoos

As of 2/08/06, Totaling 14:

Upper Left Arm - (Pisces)
Upper Back - (Six arms spread out) This Tattoo was to illustrate Chester on stage. The tattooist gave the picture 6 arms to show how he holds the audience with his music. The idea was suggested by a friend of his.
Lower Back - (Linkin Park lettered in old English) This tattoo was the result of a bet Chester made with a friend of his. If Hybrid Theory went platinum, the tattoo would be free. If not, Chester would have to pay full price. The album went platinum, and Chester got a free tattoo. He says it really hurt.
Upper Right Arm - (Japanese Koi Fish)
Lower Left Calf - (Hybrid Theory Soldier)
Left Wrist - (Flames a.k.a. The Cusp of Aries)
Right Wrist - (Flames a.k.a. The Cusp of Aries)
Right Calf - (Dragon)
Ring Finger on Left Hand - (Engagement band)
Pinkie Finger on Right Hand - (Birthstone in gold ring)
Left of Back - (Dragon)
Right of Back - (Dragon)
Right Elbow - (Unidentified tattoo that looks like a skull on a rose?)
Left Elbow - (Skull with crossing swords underneath)
"Tattoos exude pain and pleasure all at the same time." —Chester

"Tattoos are permanent and a lifelong commitment, the same as marriage" —Chester

Chester says all his tattoos have a story behind them and have a meaning to him, like his engagement ring. He and his ex-wife Samantha were too poor to buy a ring, so both of them tattooed it on their fingers. Chester recently did an interview with tattoo stories on fuse.

Chester got his first tattoo when he was 18.

WOOT! I really like LP. They're awsome, nice lyrics and music beat, don't consider myself a #1 fan, but I still like that bad pretty much.

On topic: I don't believe this has been mentioned yet, but LP grew up as fans of Hip-Hop and Rap, as well as a few people such as KoRn and P.O.D., which is why:
1. They made a Mash-Up album with Jay-Z.
2. Mike went and made Fort Minor.
3. Why there is rapping in the music.

This thread should get closed due to the spam...

Was I blind or something? How come I couldn't see this thread although it started a year ago??

Anyway, Linkin Park rock and they are one of my fav. band! The first song I heard of them was "Breaking the Habit" and I totally loved it! And because of that song, I began to listen to music!! I love most of their songs and I don't see why people hate their songs with Jay Z!!

Every time I go somewhere with family by car, I put their songs and raise the volume so loud where everybody on streets could hear them. And then we start screaming and singing... lol! It's cool, man. ^^;;

I downright despise just about all the songs I have heard from them.

To be honest, I think that Linkin Park is one of the best rock bands out there. Most to all of their songs are decent, and it doesn't have much of a trace of the new metal that I distaste.

I tend to drift more to Chick Corea's funk, however...

The reason some people don't like Collision course is because it doesn't suit their taste of music. I'm open to everything, so I like it.
