Big contests deserve more time, so here it is! This contest has been considered one of the largest of the year. I hope that it is even larger this year!

Contest Theme: white december

Your goal:
1) make a wallpaper celebrating the season. There are tons of holidays. But there is no need to limit yourself to holidays! Celebrate the snow, winter sports... the list goes on!
2) make a light wallpaper. The wallpaper must be light. Think snow. Think clouds. Think angelic. In other words, light blue or light grey hue and white. Does that mean it has to be minimalistic? of course not! It just means that everything has to be light. See the examples below.

Contest ends: December 31, 2004

There will be *one* people's choice winner and *one* pooky's choice winner. As always, a banner will be awarded but there is also another secret prize. woo!

Mah, a 1024x768 be can be easily saved under 300kB without any loss of quality, though, higher resolution wp (as 1280x1024 or 1600x1200) would be quite bad -_-

just turn down the quality a little, in photoshop 12 is the best, i saved this at 10 and i don't think i lost much quality. anyways, i may as well be the first to enter, hope it's good enough. happy holidays..yeah..whatever.

*edit* replaced image with a nice light one (i refuse to have no color, so there's still just a tiny bit in there, just to help focus on the girls) i honestly like the original better, but i also want to be part of this contest for once. anyways enjoy.

Also, I dont think ya'll get the "white" part of "white december". It has to ALL BE LIGHT. I mean... liiiiiiight. Did you see the examples I posted? Like I said. Think snow, think clouds. so far I'm seeing a lot of white, but also dark browns and blacks, and reds. i didnt say white background i said white, light wallpaper. ;) see? challenge! my inspiration was this recent wallpaper: http://animeforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1460. See? except for the character, it's all in white, light greys, and light blues.

you can make any sort of wintery wallpaper and in whatever colors you want, but for this contest it must be liiiiiight. People will be disqualified in this contest because, well, it's big, there are non-banner prizes involved. AND you have a long time to work on the walls.

No offense Pook, but light BG's look like you're snow blind. *shrug* However, these people around here are talented enough to pull it off. ^_^ Yep, that last contest was my last contest to enter. shi amai: in the examples I posted, do you see any other colors than light greys and whites? no. Therefore, your character is too dark.

Raven: still a little dark.

Acamori: fabulous. Just a little bit of color, but it will pass. any more color than that will be disqualification. I cant make this contest TOO easy!

The purpose of this contest, in case you were wondering, was to get people to get away from colors and focus on design elements. see? there is always a reason to the madness.

This is my first time entering one of these contests... (Almost did last month, but forgot to add finishing touches and submit. Alas.) Anyway, after looking through the entries and rules, I think this will be okay. There's color, but not much.

Anyway, 'tis the lovely Oscar before her Versailles. Let me know if there's too much color left to her (it didn't look right without it). Thank you ^^

It is nearly 6:30 AM where I'm at as I post this. I started at like 2 something making this wallpaper... Granted, a great deal of that time was spent finding just the right pictures, images to make brushes (Yuki's wings, the Japanese writing, the snow), then making said brushes... I'm -pretty- sure the translation is correct, but if someone knows that it's off, PLEASE let me know (I'll love you bunches) and I'll fix it.

Ok, I'm going to go die/sleep now...

Oh yeah, and if anyone wants snow brushes and wing brushes, I'll be posting the sets I made for this (there are quite a few more brushes of both wings and snow than what I actually ended up using) up on my deviant art page.

Keep those wallpapers coming you can add, change, and modify your wallpaper until December 31st. If you do change your wallpaper, either delete the first one or edit the post and change the uploaded image to your new wallpaper.

People's choice will also start on the 31st so no late entries allowed!
