I have the 2 part 5 episode OAV and hte movie. Its all fantastic and it really setup the stage for what is now cliche in romance comedies.
Very recommended show with beautiful artwork and characters. (and URD. Did I mention Urd? ITs worth itj ust for her!)

You pretty much got what it's about right there. It's the goddesses, mini, doing random stuff. With a rat as a co-star. Belldandy plays a rather small role, if I recall correctly. It's mostly Urd and the rat.

And the OVA is the animated series. It's called that because it follows its own storyline and not the manga, and was straight to video.

I liked the part when the virus was going through the safety gaurds, as it was going through beldandy. breaking through until it found the true secret. When it did celastine (spelling?) ripped it out of beldandy, interesting moment.

An ova OVA is short, usually not more then 15 or so episodes. I've heard they're used to test an anime's popularity before making a tv series of it, but I'm not sure of that.

The difference between an OVA and a tv series is the length (tv series usually have a minimum of 50 episodes) and the fact that OVA's almost never get showed on tv.

THe ,music is also great. Check out the opening song My heart, your heart, and the ED song congratulations. Both are insanely catchy, happy and wonmderful songs ^^
Belldandy is a sweetheart, Urd is sexy and sassy, and Skuld is the little sister -type (except with a big hammer to kill bugs with ). Also I want to mention a new series is coming! IT is much longer, a true TV series this time, and based heavily on ther manga! Yes Im stoked for it ^^

True but don't try too think along the lines of the OVA's & movie. The mini goddess series was just in 4 volumes, which had very ( I mean VERY ) short storys, like less than 5mins for each. They didn't focus on follow up episodes, IE coming up on the next episode, it was just random storys with different things in it, enjoyable too watch either way.

Keiichi was always out or at school so Bel was always around house through the day. You don't really miss him not being a part of it, Thats why we have the rat's ^_^"

Its understandable to think that the male lead being not in a follow up series kinda odd o_O, but its not really a series that moves the relationship between bel and kei forward. But i've heard like i said before they are making a anime series I gather based off the Manga. I don't have websites with a difined date, its all just rumours.

I never bought any volumes of just the Mini Goddess adventures, but I have a lot of the normal manga (mostly in issue form, as opposed to trade paperback). A great many of them include short Mini Goddess episodes as sort of an extra or bonus. Most likely the volumes of just the Mini Goddesses are simply those extras all taken and placed into one book. But, I couldn't tell you how many books there are. Probably only just the one, because I don't think there were -that- many Mini Goddess adventures...

Ah my goddess is a 5 part OVA done by the same guy who did the cop anime series "Youre under arrest". It is what many people call the pioneer of the romance comedy genre. Back when this show was made, there werent many shows like Love Hina or Maburaho, it was AMg. That is why youll notice every cliche in the book in the show, because it practically invented those cliches you see in every comedy romance show ^^
It is about a guy named Keiichi who is watching over his friends place one day and decides to order a pizza. He accidentally calls the goddess helpline, and almost immediately, Belldandy shows up in front of him asking how she can be of service. Keiichi is a lonely guy, as most anime guys tend to be, so he says it would be nice to have a girlfriend like Belldandy. That is when she takes that literally and becomes his girl. Of course, Belldandy is a high class goddess, so God isnt too thrilled when she goes down to live with Keiichi. He must also hide this fact from everyone else, but how do you hide a goddess?! Also the little problem of bugs in the Heavenly system....
This show is really cute and sweet, the artwork is beautiful, the music is memorable, and the whole thing just has a rare quality about it. It doesnt rely on much fanservice and instead focuses on the story and the three goddess sisters, Urd (extremely sexy one who is always trying to play matchmaker) and Skuld (adorable kid sister with a mallet for killing bugs).

The movie is about Belldandy's former mentor Celestin, and his obsession with her and the resultant clash between Keiichi and Celestin, and of course Celestins nasty penchant for wanting to destroy the Earth and rebuild it, which he sees as full of hate and filth and not worthy of keeping as it is. the movie ramps up the animation a notch is is absolutely gorgeous. There is also another girl character that I like a lot, not for her looks, but her sitation. Its a somewhat depressing situation actually.

Mini goddesses from what I have seen does not bother with furthering the stories, instead just being the throwaway comedy for kids to watch. SOme of it is very funny and entertaining though, so I recommend that also.

Ok, let me also explain OVAs and TV series:

in an OVa, or Original Animated Video, that definition doesnt really depend on the amount of episodes. what OAV is basically is any show that goes DIRECTLY to video, skipping either TV syndication or movie screening. Sort of how sequels to Disney films are released. Usually they go directly to VHS or DVD without ever being seen in a cinema. Typically, because of their exclusivity and lighter restrictions, OVAs can push the envelope, and incorporate much more elaborate artwork and a higher overall budget than a TV show. OVAs like Onegai teacher and Read or die become so popular, that a TV series is then made to further the fanbase and better explain the original story envisioned by the creator or manga-ka.
A Tv series is just htat, a TV series, syndicated on television and fit into a time slot. By virtue of being seasonal, anime TV series have longer storylines and more resultant episodes with which to tell more drawn out and elaborate stories, but the individual episode budget is lowered, and the artwork usually takes a hit in quality from the OVa. Also a TV series usually comes in 13 or 26 episode groups because that is a regular broadcast television schedule.
Amg is an OVA series, but this new show will be fully syndicated on JApanese television and thus either 13 or 26 episodes. Im betting on a 26 episode. I will pick up every last disc of this one too ^^
