D.N. Angel

I must say, I was pleasantly surprised with the first volume of this show.
Daisuke is turning 14, and he has the hots for a certain girl named Risa. Trouble is, Risa only like the tall,dark, dangerous guys. Her sister Riku has a liking for Daisuke. TO make hte show more interesting, Daisuke is actually a member of a family who have the genetic makeup of super thieves that is activated on their 14th birthday. Daisuke turns into Phantom dark when he thinks of Risa, but Phantom has his own plans and they could get Daisuke in trouble eventually.
The artwork is great, the show is not thast violent and htere is little if any fanservice, but thats is refreshing when you consider the onslaught of fanservice oriented shows lately. The story is just gearing up as Daiasuke has to steal various magical items from various places, and Risa wants Daisuke to come along and watch Dark in action. Problem is, how can Daisuke become Phantom Dark and not make Risa suspicious?

Well I do anyway, I've read up to vol4 of the Manga & I'm hooked. I must just find the Manga's better then the Anime I guess. I like Satoshi Hiwatari, They make him like an idol to all women in the manga & Dai's still a goof ball heh.

I agree, Risa is cute but shes a self absorbed prep. RIku is much more down to Earth and just as cute. that plus she likes Daisuke as he is, not Dark.

Agreed. I like Dark and all, but I like Daisuke better personally. I think the best part of the show however is listening to Hio Mio speak that broken sounding English. :p

I agree with whoever said that the manga art is better. When working at House of Anime, I had to deal with a lot of posters and such that had both the anime and the manga art. I liked the manga ones better. And, after reading this thread, it seems like a rather interesting series. Perhaps I'll go check out the manga sometime....when I get more money, though... I'm already addicted to several manga series, and my bank account is tiny.. ;_;

When I first saw DNAngel, it looked very likeable but didn't impressed me a lot. After few episodes, I get addicted to it, so it's one of my favourite anime now.

I love everything on this anime: story (a 14 yearls old boy turnes into a a dark-winged phantom, plot, mythology, enviroment/world, characters (Dark rocks!), artwork (it's a masterpiece!), animation, soundtrack (expept the first and second main ending themes, which sucks)...

I look forward bying the whole manga series in order to enjoy a deeper story.

I listened to it in both Japanese and English on my player and it sounds great both ways. the voices are very fitting.

no, but her husband is one of the founders of ADV. She came to our anime club by special request last week. She is usually at cons surrounsded by thousands of screaming people so seeing only 20 of us was probably a welcome relief lol. She absolutely loves what she does though. She lives in Houston, which is where ADV is stationed.

she gave me far more appreciation for dubbing. A lot of dubbing and name changes of anime is actually requested by the japanese anime companies, so its not right to blame the American dubbers completely for bad dubs.
A lot of goofy anime names like Samurai X are actually told by the Japanese anime makers in contract.

Ive heard lots about it, but I never once downloaded the fansubs when it first came out or read any manga or saw it beforehand. All I had to rely on was my enjoyment of episode 1 from NEWTYPE. After that episode though, I was hooked, so I picked up vol 1 ^^
