I have asked many an anime fan if they have seen this anime series called Figure 17. Of all the ones I have asked only 5 others have said they have seen it. I'm not really sure if this counts as a space anime series but if fighting monsterous alianes that threaten the Earth doesn't count I don't know what will. BTW Figure 17 is one of thoses rare anime with Hour long episodes so there is more story detail told, which I like.

Anyway its about the young girl named Tsubasa who has just moved to Hakadio and is very shy so she is having trouble making new friends. Anyway one night an alien space craft carring these dangerous monster eggs called Maguar crash lands on a mountian just behind her house. After going after her dog who went to go see it she happends to come upon the crashed ship. She finds an injured alien whoes name is DD. one of the monsters had hatched and caused the ship to crash. The monster attacks Tsubasa but DD saves her (briefly) He transforms into this biohumaniod suit called a Figure and fights the Maguar, but is defeated. The Maguar attacks Tsubasa again. She trys to take cover in the ship. The monster, although to big for the cockpit, attacks her with shooting spikes. thankfully the spikes miss but in the procces one spike breaks a capsule just above Tsubasa and a small ball thing falls beside her. the Magure dissconnects its eye and sends it into the cockpit to get it's barings. It's eye get's right up to Tsubasa's face. Tsubasa despratly crys out for her father. then a gouy metal like substance runs down the wall and reacts with the ball and Tsubasa. Tsubasa is transformed into a Figure. Out heroine Figure 17 is born. She is more powerful than the average Figure apperantly. She (somewaht) easily defeats the maguar. after the fight is over She separates from the figure but right beside her is a clone of her! insted of the litte ball thingy going back into it real form it somehow kept Tsubasa form. She is the exact polor oppisite of Tsubasa being more out going and boystrus. She names herself Hikaru. Thanks to some mind control Hikaru and DD both start living with Tsubasa and her dad. Hikaru live with Tsubasa as her twin sister. Hikaru eventually helps Tsubasa open up her heart and helps her make new friends.

I have only seen the series up to volume 4 since all the volumes arn't out yet. But If this sounds interesting to any of you I incourage you to go buy it and see it for yourselves.

I've seen the first half of it. It has alot of interesting concepts, but I don't really like the art style. I think it has some really reallistic characters and -to a point- reallistic scenarios.

I think the art style is really good. it gives it a sureal feeling to it. Keep watching it, it gets better as the story progresses. I still don't have the last to volumes yet (6 in all) but i plan to get them in erly November when i goto an anime convention.

I just got through watching volumes 5 and 6 that i got at the anime con. Man are these 2 vokumes very emotional. hey were tugging on my heart strings. This has to be the greatest ending to an anime series. watch to see.

I think Figure 17 is a wonderful anime. I have seen up to volume 5. I also think the plot and the art are very good. I would also encourage people to watch it. I think it is more centered toward smaller kids, but it is still very good. I agree that it being an hour long adds to the show. I do not think it is considered a mecha anime though because they do not use mechs in the anime series. It would seem a space anime to me ,too. I also really like the opening.
