I just started reading Love Hina. It was my first Manga and I have to say it was one of the best books I've read in a while.

I've never read the mange. The show is one of the best animes though. The love Hina Again series is just 3 episodes. I guess my fav quote from the series would be when keitaro tells Mutsumi that he failed the test 3 time and then she says, "Wow, you're REALLY dumb". That made me laugh sooo much lol.

The anime came out at least four years ago...maybe longer. At least, in Japan. I'm not entirely sure when it was released domestically, or when the domestic release of the manga came out. But, yeah, there's been plenty of time for people to discover the series and fall in love.

Yeah Europe does geat a raw deal.I'd have to agree there as about 5 years ago in england you could list the amount of anime dvd releases in the back of a postage stamp and there'd be room left, but as I allways import form america and that includes love hina (which I'm awaiting the first volume of on DVD) but I do have the first volume of the manga and I'd have to say it is the funniest things I've read at this moment (as in laughing all the way through not just on 1 or 2 pages)

Ok, I'm sorry but I just have to say something in response to everyone thinking this is the greatest romance of all time...

LH is cute, but it is FAR from original, and also far from the best romance ever. The concept is an old and rather over-used one. The cast is filled with cliches. This is a romantic comedy targeted towards mostly men, so it lacks a great deal of the emotional aspects that other romance materials have. This is fan service with laughs, a tiny dash of angst/drama, and a pinch of romance.

Most romance stories try to get you caught up in the relationships within them, and often times have characters with a great bit of depth and development. LH mainly focuses on the creative ways Keitaro can get pulverized, and why. Yes, there is -something- between him and Naru. But the anime does not dwell on it. It would rather skip around, considering all the other possible pairings for him, but not taking any one of them seriously.

He's a boy living in a house filled with girls. Like I said, this is an old concept, and one that Tenchi utilized better, I think. Because Tenchi actually gave the characters some bit of depth. And it's highly unlikely you'd ever see the Love Hina equivolent to the Tenchi Forever movie, which was a fantastic romance drama. But the only point to having Keitaro live in a house filled with girls is to make all the fanboys drool and envy him (despite the constant beatings). It's been used many times before. It will likely be used many times in the future. One boy, a nice sized group of girls, fan service, comedy. IT'S BEEN DONE!

So, no... While I may enjoy Love Hina from time to time, I have never even considered calling it the best anything.

It is enjoyable, and also far from original. Any clues as to what is the original member of this genre? I don't know, tho I would guess Ranma 1/2. If romance is what you want, the best one I have read/seen is Ichigo 100%. Awesomeness.

Love Hina Couple Ties the Knot Earlier this month Love Hina creator Ken Akamatsu updated his diary to state:

Today, April 3rd, 2005, is the wedding day of Keitaro and Naru. Relatives and friends from Japan and abroad, came to Hinata Inn at the seaside of Kanagawa prefecture to attend their wedding. Honored priest Seda conducted the ceremony. As usual Kitsune, Motoko, Shinobu, Suu, Mutsumi and Sara were busy with the preparation of the ceremony.

Hinata-baba and Kanako came as well. New resident Masae is also here. Haruka and Tama, Nyamo and Mei (Naru's sister) have also joined the celebration.

Keitaro has at last fulfilled his childhood wish, and married the girl he has always been in love with.

Congratulations! You really must not give up, no matter what!



Akamatsu goes on to state that he received many e-mail congratulating the newlyweds (over 800 by the next day)

Nope. After Love Hina Again(which is the OVA), the continuity is on the Manga, nothing more. Note also that chap 14 is final and last, sadly.

He just let us know that he still cares for his work, even though it was finished for ages.

I admit that Negima will proably supass Love Hina with the amount of volumes to be created, but will never surpass it in popularity. Love Hina was the manga that revieved the whole Herim theme. Plus unlike Negima, the Love Hina Anime was extremely popular almost as much as the manga was. Too many people hated the Negima anime and that's the main reason why it won't surpass Love Hina.

OH! and get this. in a recent world wide pole of the top 10 most popular Anime/Manga girls, Shinobu, Naru, and Nodoka all made it on the list!

hmmm....Yes, evil Xebec...chisames hair was green....GREEN! they don't make it orange till the last episode...i hate them.


But negima being more popular than love hina is a little sketchy.Ken is almost done with negima in japanese, and there are tons of scanlations out there that are fan subbed.The manga is awsome, and the plot is pretty original, but Love Hina is Ken's pride and joy, almost like a child.
Something about Love Hina just makes it special in it's own way, maybe it's the connection between characters.
In negima negi has 31 students, but how many of them is he close with? a little under half...to me they would be

Anyway yea I LOVE Love Hina. Lol it was among my first anime's as I was still getting into anime. First saw it on an AMV to a Weird Al song. Thought it looked funny, but the name was so suggestive that it took me about a month to convince myself to give it a try. It's now my favorite anime. I just fell in love with Shinobu. Love Hina...I could talk about that manga for hours lol. Love Hina Vol. 8 was the first manga I ever read, and it got me hooked to Love Hina since then. Now I have the whole collection in my room (and the whole anime series +movies on my computer :]) and I'm still luvin Love Hina :D. Yea I used to have the complete series on my computer, then I started buying the DVD's, then my parent's took that computer and I had to delete all of the episodes, then the store stopped carrying Love Hina, 2 DVD's short of my complete collection, so now I have to try to redownload them.

I haven't seen Gundam Wing. Period. But, I've hated every single english dub i've tried to listen to.
Then you need to watch the anime series called Figure 17. This had some of the best dubbing i have ever heard. In fact I thought it was better than the origanl Japanese version.

As for the Love Hina dubbing. Yes i agree that the dubbing could have used some work. I HATED Motoko's voice. They gave her a BOY'S voice! Kitsune's i actaully found more funny than annoying. Naru's was pretty bad in both versions. Shinobu, Keitaro, Su, and Sara's voices were fine.

I coudn't figure out why she had that accent in the dubbed version, thats what lost me right there. (IN reference to Kitsune) If I remember right, it was southern. (It's been awhile since I tried to watch the dubbed, it horrifyed me too much)

Southern Bell to be procise. It was to match her Osakian acient she had in the Japanese version. In most animes when someone was an Osakian acient in the Japanese version more than likly they will get a southern acient in the Dubbed version. Abenobashi for example.

*shrugs* If it was me I'd make it the same story but instead focus on one charecter and their point of view through the series, maybe throw in some background events that we didn't get to see cause of the Keitaro&Naru theme, like some of the history and training of Motoko, or balancing school with the new life at Hinata for Shinobu maybe the events that lead to her parent's divorce and the times she used to go to the Hinatasou when she was younger, or school and crazy robots and family for Su, or background and drunken adventures (not those kind of adventures...) of Kitsune, you get the idea......

Ok, now that we've hopefully got the fandom out of our systems for at least a page (if we're lucky) I'd like to elaborate a little bit more on my last idea.

Basically I was thinking make the sequal 1 book or 1-5 episode DVD for each charecter. Idea's for the content follows..

Shinobu's disc - First episode start when Shinobu was younger and sometimes went to the Hinatasou to play. From there there can be an event or two, nothing big, justsomething to take up time until her parent's start to have domestic problems. From there Shinobu would experiance a social withdrawl which caused her outsider status in school. Things would get worse until her parent's finally decide to get the divorce at the end of episode 1, where we leave and Shinobu is sitting at the bridge from the original series.

-Episode 2 will begin to show us living at Hinatasou from her viewpoint, a few new events maybe that we didn't hear durring the series, you get the idea.

-Episode 3 will consist of events that took place in the time-skip between the series and the OVA. This is pretty much open game for whatever the writer decides to put in.

-Episode 4 will show the OVA through Shinobu's viewpoint and carry after a little bit.

-Episode 5 will chronicle the remaining time-skip from the end of the OVA to Keitaro and Naru marriage, which will end the disc. Once again, open for more charecter development and new events as the writers see fit.


Kaolla's disc - Disc one will begin with Kaolla in her homeland with her sister and brother/fiance/whatever. Anyway it will show how her step-brother or whatever was pushing her to mary him and Kaolla fleeing to Japan to avoid the marriage. From there we see how she met up with the Hinata residents and Kitsune teaching her japanese. Episode 1 will end with Keitaro walking down the stairs in his towel and Kaolla's little tanks all lined up.

-Episode 2 will begin to show us living at Hinatasou from her viewpoint, a few new events maybe that we didn't hear durring the series, you get the idea.

-Episode 3....... eh you know what these are kinda gonna be the same general idea, so just sorta mentally copy and paste from above for episodes 2-5 on everyone.

Motoko's disc - Ok episode 1 has Motoko still as a child training under her sister. It will also show some of the demons and whatnot that her family has had to slay and so on. We then see how her faith in her sister begins to drop when Tsuruko falls in love with her future husband. It all falls apart when she gets married and Motoko runs off to live at Hinata. Shortly before Keitaro arrives she goes off to her training camp and this episode ends with her and her "groupies" walking down the bridge.

Kitsune's Disc - When this disc starts we will see Kitsune in her early high-school years, and when she first meets Naru and becomes friends. After a bit of school and Naru-friend, Seta shows up and we see Kitsune's crush on Seta develope. Of course this is ruined when Naru asks what she could say to Seta cause she liked him. Also Naru brings up her family problems and moves into Hinata with Kitsune. The episode ends with Grandma Hina leaving on her trip.

Sarah/Mutsumi's disc - Sorry but Sarah didn't play that big of a role and Mutsumi was a main part of the series anyway, so they are on one disc. Anyway episode 1 is Sarah, this will be her only episode. This will chronicle living in the US with her parents, and explain the scar-looking thing we see on the back of her neck in episode 18 of the series. It will end with her joining Seta and coming to Japan.

-Mutsumi's part will start in episode 2. In this episode we get the same basic flashback's that we see in the series and pick up with Mutsumi trying to enter Todai and failing. Also in this episode we will catch a glimps of Keitaro bumping into her at the testing center. It will end with Mutsumi meeting Naru and Keitaro.

-Episode 3 will pick up from there and finish out the gap between there and episode 19 when Mutsumi reentered the series. This episode will also begin to go into the time-skip between series and OVA.

-Episode 4 is the OVA from Mutsumi's viewpoint, since everyone kinda got butted out of the OVA except Kanako.

-Episode 5 same as everyone elses......


Anyway that's all the details of my idea I can type right now, my wrists hurt from that. Need ice pack.....

anyways Starkwynd has a nice idea but that would be quite a few DVD's to buy...but all the cover's would have an interesting design for each indivual character..i think it could be done with less episodes for every main character and just have the extra characters have a single ep OVA

One thing I have to say about this is that LH completely changed the image I had of these types of anime. If it was me some time ago, I would never have bothered to watch such anime...... But it turned out to be fine.

love hina is great did anyone know that there is a love hina game on newgrounds.com I do. In fact i have is saved to my computer! I date Shinobu every time....of course with the cheats i can do it pretty fast.

I have all 14 volumes and have scaned them onto a CD to I can read them on the go! (easier to read them on a laptop than to lug around 14 books every where i go.) I have the entire anime series and the Spring Movie. I'm planning on getting Love Hina Again and the Christmas movie this November when i goto an anime con in Hamton Roads, Virgina. Love Hina Again is funny. It downloaded it awhile ago, and I watch it every couple weeks. I haven't got around to downloading all the originial episodes, but I know where to get them.

Again wasn't that good IMO, which is why I never got around to buying that one.

As for series and manga, I've read the manga through about 3 or 4 times I'd say, and the anime, I've been watching 1 or 2 episodes a night since I first saw it back in 2001, finished downloading the series and movies in about 2 months, bought all of the discs plus spring and christmas movie last year..... Plus she ages to 19 in the manga. Listen carefully, if you think in this way,
the manga came out in 1999
6 years later in the manga Keitaro married Naru,
that is in April 2005 and this is the date when Shinobu was 19
this means that by now Shinobu is already too old for you guys....hahahahahaha

You guys watched too much anime, your eyesight has gone really bad. How can you find that shinobu nice?! I looked at her, re-looked, again and again and can't find anything in her. In the series, she was just supposed to be a spoilt child, competing uselessly against Naru for keitaro.

Of course, this is ridiculous because it is Shinobu and I don't feel like I'd be interested in the fight yet, it's been a lot of fun to piss these guys off.....:D

This needs a girls decision!

After reading all your posts and concidering all your "reasons" I have made the decision on who get's Shinobu!

I decided that Anime_Overload is the best choice for Adult Shinobu. He is the biggest Shinobu fan out of all the 4 or 5 people fighting for her. And he is right. Shinobu does have a thing for older guys so he would probably win anyway.

I'm sorry if you other guys don't like my choice but considering that A_O has read all the manga at least 8 times and watched the anime more that anyone else here he is the best choice. Besides you guys have to concider a girls heart in this too, and none of you have done that except for him!

Tenchu1973 you would probably be best suited for young anime Shinobu.

bakakame you be best suited for "Love Hina Again" Shinobu.
