alright, went with a different image, unfortunately the cuts on the character left me with few options as to deal with it, so please, suggestions to make it better.

(btw used blue with red because they compliment and contrast each other)

edit: grid color was off...

Well she's just a tad grainy but its better than the last one of her. hehe As for the grid I find it might be better to make it smaller? I really don't know.

I'm not sure why, but to me it seems a little plain. I mean, the little grid tablet takes up half of the screen, and the colors and text inside of it "match" I guess, but it's hard to read. Then the girl is bright, while the tablet is dark, and the background is birght. With the bright colors behind and near the information tablet, makes me squint, and feel like I'm suffering from temporary blindness. In short, less light!! I'm a vampire who fears the light!!!

Just had an idea. Instead of her facing the way she's facing, why not clone in her elbow, and flip her the other way, and have her arm drape over the grid?

WeyrDragon
08-18-2004, 08:02 PM
well, that'll take me some time xian... possibly impossible, im gonna have to draw the rest of her arm myself to get that done.

Clone brush brother. I can draw it in within ten fifteen minutes. ;) Hell, look at my Komugi wallpaper. I remade that entire elbow from scratch. It's easy.

well, ive been trying and cant seem to be able to figure it out, could you give me a tutorial or point me towards one? it would be much appreciated. :D

Methinks you should make the panel thingy MUCH smaller and format the text different. Also, a spacey (outer spacey) feel would be good for this... I mean, have you seen the anime? It takes place in space!

I second Miko's opinion. The panel is WAAY too big and the text needs to be worked on as well. Space would be a good idea for this image.

A tutorial eh? No problem. ^_^

Okay, step one in your image fixage cloning thinger is to increase your canvas size to accomodate the soon to be bigger image. I usually at least double the size of the canvas just in case

Next you highlight the area you want to remake with the polygon lasso tool.

I apologize in advance for the length of time that this is taking me, my computer seems to want to act like a piece of junk tonight.

Xian Pu

Okay, now you've gotten your area highlighted notice that it is a little blocky, that's okay, we'll take care of that in a minute. The most important part is that you've got it aligned properly and that it is going to look good and not extremely lumpy.

Xian Pu

Next we select the clone stamp, or tool-- whatever you want to call it.

Xian Pu
08-20-2004, 03:04 AM
Okay, now we start having fun. ^_^

While holding down alt button, left click the mouse button in an area outside the selected area that matches the area you want to clone. Now, while holding down the left button on your mouse, run it over the area that you want to clone. Shadows. Pay attention to shadows and skin tone. If there is a shadow, try and clone it into the new area as much as possible. Pay close attention to skin tone too. If the skin tone changes from one area to the next outside the area you are cloning- change that area inside your cloned area as well.

Xian Pu

Okay, now we have our area cloned in. Notice how blocky and unrealistic it looks? Well, this is where the next step comes into play: Cleanup. ^_^

WeyrDragon

alright, ty, im eternally grateful

Xian Pu

Okay, this isn't as good as I could normally get it, but my computer has a major case of the WTF's tonight... eh anyway, this is pretty much what it should look like when you are done. ^_^

But first:

Before:

And after:

Think you can handle it from here? ^_^

Oh yeah, I cleaned it up using the simple eraser tool and gently went over the area I needed to free handed. That's the reason I apologize. My computer acts like it has the hiccups and keeps jerking the mouse pointer around therefore pretty much screwing me up on a contstant basis...

Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna do a redneck stomp on my computer and TRY to make a wallpaper that I was working on b4 it went total system meltdown on me a second ago. Questions? Feel free to ask, I have no life... Crap...

WeyrDragon

hows this? :D

Xian Pu
08-20-2004, 03:54 AM
Alright! Looking good! Now, IMO it would spice it up juuust so if you added a shadow to the box. Not just any shadow, but one that is only really visible in the corner that overlaps the moon. It would also give it depth. ;)

WeyrDragon
08-20-2004, 04:03 AM
like this?

Xian Pu

Like that. ^_^

Beautiful. Just minor issue with the negatives of extraction along her pants? and some parts of her arm is a little grainy. Other than that everything looks good so far. Maybe add a bit of shining stars in the distance. :)

It's really good. The only qwerks are what escaflownemoon mentioned already. Looking good.

Not that my opinion matters but without the profile it would look prettier

WeyrDragon
08-23-2004, 03:07 AM
like so?

Xian Pu
08-23-2004, 03:18 AM
Now it looks blank. You also have a bit of left over something on the moon. Got an idear fer yas though... How about shrinking the logo down and putting it over the moon?

WeyrDragon
08-23-2004, 03:29 AM
1. its not a moon, its a planet, 2. that leftover bit, if im thinking of the same thing you are is the G.O.A. ship. 3. i put the logo in to try and make it not blank :P

Xian Pu
08-23-2004, 03:55 AM

xian, be nice.

I like the logo where it is, but it looks a bit grainy. I would try to find a better version or it or repaint it. Maybe... move it to the bottom? how would that look?

WeyrDragon
08-23-2004, 04:25 AM
oh, well you and i werent thinking the same bit on the picture then :P my bad.

as for the logo... yeah... its design, even on a dvd doesnt give a great capture, i can probably play with some effects so that it isnt so bad.

pooky's idea

WeyrDragon
08-23-2004, 06:55 PM
and i think this is what xian had in mind.

Xian Pu
08-23-2004, 07:34 PM
Honestly? I'm torn. Pooky's idea is clean and clear but still feels a bit vacant. My idea on the other hand puts it all together nicely, but feels crowded, therefore I'm gonna hafta say that Pooky's idea is best. ^_^

I think both look good

WeyrDragon

i think im gonna go with xians idea.. btw, there were these strange lines in each of them that you cant see unless your zoomed in.. they've been remove from the image in the last post since thats the one im going with.

I really think all three were nice of the placement of the logo. The third one looks more like an offical wallpaper feel and Pooky was clean and out of the way look for less distraction.

good choice
