When I did watch the show I always liked Dragonball Z and everything else was what I considered "Whack". The thing is.. with GT is that the story line's continuity seemed a bit off to me and especially in the English dubbing, the voice overs were just plain horrid just like the music.. jesus christ.. what a horrendous experience watching that. ..about Dragonball, well that was just too silly.

Not only I think the Cell saga was the best, I think they should have called it quits after it. After all, Cell was supposed to be the perfect enemy, the emboidment of all the threaths they had faced so far. And the thing of Gohan outstanding Goku was the perfect ending. They should have eliminated all that heaven tournment idiocy and just show those funny episodes with Gohan as a teenager and ended the damned thing!

True, but they do take up 3 episodes...just to charge a move?!? My friends and I have an inside joke about this, so it makes me laugh everytime I think about it. DBZ isn't that bad of an anime, I'd have to say it's one of the animes that got me into anime in general(I woke up 6 in the morning every saturday just to watch this show!) but I've ventured off into other realms of anime and found better ones(Sorry to all DBZ fans, it's not an insult, I'm a fan myself).

Anyways, my favorite saga would probably be the Buu Saga, just because Majin Buu(The fat one) is one of my favorite non-human anime characters of all time.

I loved Gohan in the Cell Games and when he became Mystic Gohan. However, I cannot stand Great Saiyaman Gohan or Gohan in the Frieza Saga. Saiyaman is simply unbearable, such things as Saiyaman's actions are... intolerable.

Gt was horrible (no offence) the story wasnt in anyway good, Trunks was just pathetic, Goku was certainly pathetic, Pan was just weak and annoying Gil was just,.. Gil wasnt anything.. and then when they finally got back to earth (or even at first when they went to planet souphul [sp?] (blah i know its wrong but i woke up not to long ago heh! x.x) Vegeta well Baby was inside of him controlling him and he sucked when he became a lil'monkey (remember i said i only woke up awhile ago) and Goku well he was an idiot, Pan just got in the way, Trunks and Goten i believe SHOULD have fused in the series it would have been cool but no they sucked and did nothing, going up against Super 17 Vegeta has a new attack we only ever saw it once in the series and it only increased his opponents power and so Oob damn i hated him he was weak even when he merged with Buu and became "super"

Gohan became the hero in the Cell saga but thats only cause they wanted him to finally be able to unlock his power inside of him and because he was the only one at the time who was able to perfect SSJ2 my belief is that because he was a child at the time he was already extremly fast his body had more youth meaning he could reach the level with all the power though instead of being bulky and slow as Goku was in the chamber (seeing how far he could push his power) and Trunks outside (fighting Cell) he would just have the large increase in power and he would have twice the amount of speed

Vegeta watches as all the other weak charries are trying to weaken Cell so Gohan can win over the Kamehameha's, Vegeta then final flashes Cell making him weaken enough so Gohan could lose, my belief is that if it wasnt for Vegetas final flash there is no way Gohan would have been able to hold Cell off

Buu Saga:

Vegeta was the one who had came up with the plan to destroy Buu he deserves alot of credit for it i believe he had saved the universe ^_^ and also he pretty much was sacrificing himself while Goku was creating the spirit bomb

so yeah in my opinion it would have been great to see Vegeta save the world x.x fully on his own

Also, the Buu saga was just crap with the totally outrageous (even by DBZ standards) increases in power levels. I mean, SSJ3, 2 kinds of fusions, absorbing, mystical power-ups? The best ep of Buu saga is the ONE episode where Gohan comes back from training with Old Supreme Kaio and whoops all over Buu. But then in THE NEXT EPISODE Gohan is utterly defeated (and then Goku, who whould be MUCH weaker than Gohan is able to hold him off). Makes no sense. Frieza saga though is also a great one.

Well, I can see I'm not going to be in the minority by saying that I enjoyed the Cell Saga the most, granted there were elements during the Buu saga that were cool and interesting I will still say my favorite is the Cell saga.

Why? Because the complete cell saga does the following. It incorporates elements from the first series, by that I mean the Dragon Ball series. That to me was nice. But along with that we got to see other members of the group aside from Goku take center stage for brief moments at a time. I mean Tien actually held the incomplete Cell off for a while, that was with out a doubt the biggest thing that guys ever done. We saw the Introduction of Trunks in the Cell saga, and with him came a new side of Vegita. With the combination father and son we saw Vegita become more of an in-depth character. We began to see some of that towards the end of the Frieza saga before Frieza killed him off, but it was not until Trunks was on the scene that we saw Vegita grow even more. And once again, both of them got to take center stage for a while. Hell Vegita could have destroyed the incomplete cell if he hadn't let his pride and arrogance get in the way. But that is and will always be Vegita's shinning weakness. You can talk about power all you like, but Vegita was a smarter fighter than any of the other DBZ characters.

Anyway, another great part of the saga was that we finally got to see Gohan come into his own. Now I'm going to go ahead and admit that I'm a huge gohan fan, followed closely by Vegita. So when I finally got to see Gohan getting his due I was delighted. when he refused to give in and give up and finally reached the Super Sayian level in the Time chamber, I was moved and very happy. Then came the battle with Cell. That battle alone was incredible, when Gohan ascended that was one of the best parts because we finally saw what had only been glimpsed before.

Finally, when Vegita went ballistic because of Trunks death, we finally got to see that Vegita was an arrogant guy, but inside he was a man that really did care about those closest to him. But the best moment was when Gohan and Cell sparred off with Kameheh (sp?) waves. The moment when it appeared Goku was right there with Gohan pushing him on to release it all and destroy Cell, that was the culmination of the saga and kind of the moment when, if they had not continued with the Buu saga, Goku could be seen handing down the torch to his son. Great moment in the DBZ.

In closing, there is no doubt in my mind that the Cell saga was the best because put quite frankly, it set up so much and allowed for so much. In it we saw the culmination from Dragon Ball, We saw the set up of relationships, the changing of characters and the glimpses of so much to come. People cite the Frieza saga, the Sayian saga, and the Buu saga, but really nothing incredible happened in those sagas aside from a few things. Sayian saga introduced us to a wider word of possibilities, but that's all really. Frieza introduced us to a super Sayian and gave a little more depth to gohan and Vegita.. as well as introduced us to the longest 5 minuets in the record of fictional humanity. and the Buu saga introduced us to a few new aspects, such as fusion and the like. But over all its claim to fame was the incredibly strong enemy in Buu. Cell saga over all introduced us to so much more and had so much more going on in it.

Honestly it was the first Anime Series that I began to collect. Hmm.. I think it has been about 6 maybe 7 years since I first started watching and collecting it. And of course with my youthful vigor I tried to read as much info as I could on it. I also enjoy Dragon Ball, As for GT, haven't watched it... I have mixed feelings on whether I want to or not. Hmm, I think that the Trunks saga belongs with the cell saga. Basically because its the main reason he comes. Frieza showing up and getting killed off is kind of a minor part to it all really. I'd compare it to this. In The Sayian Saga Vegita was the main bad guy. At the beginning of the whole Namek part of the Frieza saga, we see Vegita is up to stuff, but he's not a big part of the picture till later. The main issue is the ominous cloud called Frieza and what he has to do with the Dragon Balls.

So yea, I'd say Trunks saga belongs in the bracket of the Cell saga.

No he ended his influence with the Buu Saga. That was how he wanted to end the series. But the company that was putting DBZ out wanted to continue because let's face it. DBZ and DB were a huge money making product. However, Toriyama firmly did not want to continue so the company went on with GT with out him. Much to the dismay of many of the DBZ fans.

Yea, I do agree that the end of the Cell Saga would have been a perfectly good ending, Father passing the torch of Earth's defender to son. But I think Toriyama created Gohan to be kind of the reluctant hero. He was a good hero but his heart was not in it like Goku. So when we see Goku taking the reincarnated Buu off to train. Its like he's taking someone he can mold completely to be Earth's defender.

Oh, and Zackiroth, You really think more characters were involved in the Frieza saga than in the Cell saga? I mean.. in the Frieza saga the main people that fought were Vegita, Piccilo, Gohan, and Krillin... and of course Goku in the end. Even in the Sayian saga more of the guys were in there mixing it up. But in the Cell Saga you get everybody going at it. and even some of the not so major players get a moment or two to shine when fighting the Androids, or Cell. I mean that's what I think anyway.

But I do agree that one of my favorite parts of the Frieza Saga was when it looked like Frieza had killed Krillin and Gohan took him out temorparily... that was a great part. But given that I'm a big Gohan fan all the way I always like the parts where Gohan actually gets to show some of that power thats inside of him.

Goku was pure sayian, while he had a good heart and wanted to protect everyone, he loved to fight. Gohan had more potential I think but in the end, he was not a fighter. He fought when he had to, but he did not enjoy the battle. Goku did.

So, while yes Chi-chi was stupid for keeping Gohan from training and such, she was not the complete cause of it. Gohan was not that kind of fighter. So yes. He could have been the greatest fighter in the DBZ world, but in the end he was designed as a character that would not be able to do all that was necessary. If you could rearrange things in the story, sure I'd say he could have been the greatest and it would have made perfect sense to end it with Cell.

However, because of how it was designed it made more sense to give Goku someone who loved to battle as much as he did, and could be molded completely in Goku's hands without interference. Hence the reincarnated Buu was the answer. It gave Gohan the freedom to live how he apparently wanted to, and gave Goku a pupil to take his place.

Believe me, I'm really a Gohan fan, and I really..really wish that he could have gone all the way and continued to gain in power. But it was not to be apparently. Personally I would have wanted to see Gohan be the one to take out Buu, especially after what the Kai did to him. Or better yet, let him ascend further.. but oh well.

One thing I really... really... really wish could have happened, and they made it look like it might happen, was the fusion of Gohan and Goku. Can you imagine that? With their combined power? Ungodly. Because at the end of DBZ Gohan was stronger than Vegita, and we saw what Vegita and Goku could do. While that was a great combo, Vegita's tactical mind and Goku's power, I still think the father and son combo would have been amazing. Oh well.

The frieza saga in DBZ was pretty good, the DBZ series as a whole was alright, but I REALLY disliked DragonBall GT. It wasn't as good, the music sucked, the storyline was alright, but it wasn't as well made as the DBZ series.
At the GT saga, you could kind tell that they were running out of ideas of keeping Goku around. >.<; So they turned him into a little kid!

I dont want to be rude but whats the point of picking apart drawn out portions of a very drawn out show? The whole show is like that so you got to take it or leave it. I would like to add i think the most under rated saga is the garlic junior saga it seamed signifigantly darker then other sagas. Plus it was fairly fast paced as far dbz goes.

Personally, my favorite sagas are the saiyan/frieza saga and the ending to the cell saga. In the saiyan/frieza saga, the fighting was done better and damage to people was actually done. Later on the only times that any damage was shown was maybe a ripped shirt or a little blood or those wierd tiny lines on Goku's face that are apparently bruises or something like that. Whereas in Frieza in the saiyan sagas, Frieza was cut in half, Vegeta had a hole in him. And Nappa's face was all smashed up beyond recognition. The damage is avoided easily. They didn't show anything on the really strong enemies and when they died it was by some energy blast and all they showed was their close-upfaces screaming with a white flickering background.

As for Cell, that was the only time that Goku didn't suddenly gain JUST enough power to win. He realized that Gohan was stronger and the writer's showed Gohan's power instead of letting Goku reach super saiyan 2 first.

The best DBZ saga is the frieza one.It sure as hell is the longest! But that one had more adventure the others are too short and only fighting.Not as interesting.no one likes gohan anymore other than me. it is all the other characters. though, vegeta is very cool, but not as cool as gohan.

Frieza saga was the best.. showed alot of story, how frieza had a past with the Saiyans and Goku's dad.. even Cooler taking part in the movie shows more on the Saiyan background, and finally the introduction of the golden hair super saiyan.

brolli is strong, though. still, gohan is the best. He even was beating down frieza after he morphed the first time.
