I've seen backgrounds on the animewallpapers site that i had a few questions about. I'm interested in making a background like this one http://www.animewallpapers.com/wallpapers/...full_2_1024.asp (http://www.animewallpapers.com/wallpapers/lodoss/full_2_1024.asp). I've tried some stuff (i have photoshop 7) but im not able to get that effect. Is there a tutorial out there that would explain how to do this? Thanks.

There is a sticky at the top of the page that should answer a lot of your questions. My advice to you is to fool around in the program until you feel comfortable with it. Kinda like growing into a new pair of shoes. You just gotta walk around until they feel good on your feet.

Hmm... this is my guess --
In that background, the maker person:
- copied the main image
- pasted it on a new layer
- enlarged it so it fills the area
- blurred it
- colourised it
- faded it
That may not be exactly right, but you should get something similar

We all know the maker did blur the bg..set the bg to a greenish colour...probably added a gradient somewhere to get light and dark areas in the wallpaper. Enlarge the head of the guy add a smart blur to make it look smooth...

i guess my other question would be about the face in the bg. how was he able to make the face the same color? Thanks. :D

probably using the blending options> set it to screen..
I don't know..I can't really tell you off top of my head but I can get the same effect just applying blending options and having the head in the bg on a separate layers from the bg.
you can try this..have the bg colour blue for example then add another layer that is just the head in the same canvas. Then play with all the blending options that are available.. my suggestions is to not go for a specific goal, first get to know your program's buttons and special features it offers you and check out the tutorial threads here..

"The maker" I believe is either sarcastic or cynical (their nicknames, not putting that as adjectives :P)
