XD Once again trying a picture background, this time a sepia toned beach. Comments? Suggestions?

That's nice. ^_^ Only, the Priss in the foreground seems a bit pixelated. Smart blur or something to bring it out. Also it seems a bit washed out. Otherwise you are on your way with this bad boy.

smart blur wont help with this quality
you need to recolor it completely

the concept is good..I like sepia but I think it should be used when its like you're showing a memory is being looked back. In this case it kinda has that kind of feel. I think the foreground picture should be normal.

Hahahahashasha! Smart blur?!?! That won't even hurt the bad quality of that picture... First thing: yes, it DOES need to be recolored; second thing: after you recolor, change the blue shade on her hair and clothes; third thing: the faded background images are useless there... Just remove them completely; fourth thing: if you're gonna use a photo for the bg, work on it, make it more 2D friendly... After all, you're working with anime, so it really does help to have something more 2D friendly instead of a raw shot.

I also think you need to recolor it. Make the background more 2D like by applying some drawing effects.

Hahaha, I'm not being a dick... Just saying that a smart blur won't do s*** to an image with such degradation level :P

Oh okay. My bad. Didn't mean to snap. ^^'

So, as I said in my own thread; what is a good method to recolor? Is there one?

i use the polygonal lasso and the paint bucket tools

first, decide wich color you do first. Than pick it with the eyedropper, make sure its bright (move the cursor to the brightest color) and use the polygonnal lasso to contour the spot and paint it......

ok this isnt understandable, do you want me to do a tutorial?

@@ My God I had no idea it was so awful. My laptop's monitor makes everything look awful so I can't distinguish between what really IS low-quality and what isn't. I'll just find a better image to use. But I'll post it here first to make sure that it really IS a good quality image.

EDIT! Just noticed something. @@ I had the compression rate on my PSP waaaaaay low. Around 27...don't know if that encompasses ALL that is wrong with the image but here is another version without the compression so low that it makes the wall look awful
