And again, self portrait done in charcoal.

Latest work - digital painting self-portrait
I like this one. This you use a reference or did you imitate the light and shadows from scratch?
07-30-2011, 04:08 AM
I used a reference photo. No way I can do that imagination yet, haha. Here's my newest piece, also with the help of references but the concept/composition is my own.

So I just finished modeling my first concept in 3Ds Max... even though it doesn't look like it I spent 25+ hours on this thing, not including the actual homework in the class to actually learn the program and the time to get extra help for not knowing what I was doing.
Concepts leading up to the model:
also 3Ds Max makes me want to kill myself
This model is a semester long project, we still have to learn how to animate it and paint it and etc. long way from finished. We were asked to create a machine type "excavator" of some sort. Mine "excavates" blood/dna and kills peoples and large scary things and stuff.
Also some paintings I did in photoshop with the help of photo references, cause LOL YEAH RIGHT would i be able to paint this stuff from imagination. these studies were for my animal anatomy class.
also I'm working on a game team for this. still in the concepting stages but the mechanic is that you get to control a whole horde of zombies or shadow people. we haven't decided yet. but you get a horde regardless. some REALLY rough animations i did cause the programmers for the game needed some visuals for their milestone presentation. the game will be isometric so it took me a good six hours to do five different directions (they mirrored it in the game).it looks stiff because i only had time to animate the legs.
again still in the early stages of concepting and coding. the programmers im teaming up with have a year to make this game. still kinda cool tho
so on screen my characters might look something like this

XD ahaha the walking robot is so cute!
I enjoyed looking at all of your drawings.
Especially the concept drawings. I also enjoy doing figure drawings and taking life drawing class right now also.

You're amazing Arcady! I like all of your artwork. Especially the fourth one and the bird. It reminds me of Birds of America ^_^
Really? you use Autodesk 3D max? I use Maya and yeah they're frustrating...
Can I copy the bird you made, for 3D modelling? I won't post it on any sites without your permission or credits :D

@Arcady (http://www.animeforum.com/member.php?u=134709) : Very impressive job on this. I can tell you poured your heart out into this, and the results are extremely satisfactory. I definitely see a career in gaming for you, talented one! The sketches are marvelous, the game title screens are flawless, and by adding points of references you illustrated that you don't take your craft lightly, which is what being a true artist is all about, tirelessly learning to perfect their craft. The charcoal on news print sketch, brilliant. Class dismissed. You've made the grade. I wish you well in all that you do. You've gained a new fan in me. Solid work. Push ahead with more of these. You're a bona fide natural. :)
Have a great week ahead! *thumbs up*
My Wi-Fi, it's gone out...

I think you're being way too nice but thank you :). The game screens still need a lot of polish. I don't have talent, it's about hard work.
Something I may or may not finish
02-08-2012, 05:12 AM
For my character design class we had to choose a house style out of 5 options and draw our partner in that style. My partner chose The Illusionist. I chose Samurai Jack. Here are the results.
His is way more awesome than mine lol.

I dig that girl with the horns. I say finish it, I think it could really benefit from more details being added.
